clearly your definition of a "noob" weapon is very different than mine. possibly opposite.
let me try to understand this: youre telling me that the halo 3 assault rifle is less of a noob weapon than the halo 1 assault rifle because in halo 3 you can get kills with it by using it the same way as a noob would use the halo 1 assault rifle? so the weapon that takes more skill to use correctly is a noob weapon, versus the weapon that does about the same damage, except you just hold the trigger down.... im sorry but i dont follow this logic at all.
the battle rifle isnt considered a noob weapon because it takes skill to 4sk someone with it. with the assault rifle, its all about who started firing first, who can get the most shots in, and who melees the fastest. with the battle rifle, you take into consideration how you have to duck, strafe, and jump to throw off the other person's aim. somebody can open up on you with a br, and if you know what you are doing, you can turn around and take them out. you just cant do that with an assault rifle in halo 3.

and the smg...... i wouldnt call it a noob weapon, but lets be honest here, the battle rifle, the shotgun, the mauler, and the assault rifle pretty much dwarf out the smg.


again, im trying to get the point across that the halo 1 assault rifle wasnt a useless weapon. you are trying to compare it to halo 3 to make it seem useless. in a halo 3 scenario, if i could have a br and a halo 1 assault rifle, hell yes, give it to me. the halo 1 assault rifle is like an smg but more powerful. you say that the smg isnt a noob weapon, but if thats true, then the assault rifle isnt either because the same concepts apply to it minus the duel wielding.

tl;dr the halo 1 assault rifle takes more skill to use than the halo 3 ar because in halo 3 you can rack up kills without controlling your fire, while in halo 1 you had to implement the gun correctly to use it. and lets not forget that its a starting weapon. its not meant to be THE BEST gun ever. its a good formidable starting weapon when paired with the pistol because you get short range and medium range functionality.
and lets not bring the god awful melee system into this... please just dont.

Of course the AR in halo 1 and halo 3 is going to be a sucky weapon it's your default starting weapon like the SMG in halo 2 what do people expect to start out with a sniper and a rocket lancher?

thats the thing though, its not a horrible weapon. i use the assault rifle in halo 3. it does work, and it is effective, but i prefer the battle rifle. in halo 1, i would use an assault rifle and a pistol, or a sniper and a pistol unless its very close quarters, in which case i would take a pistol and a shotgun.

Well i perfer the B varient over C just becuase of clip size. May not be a wise choice but ill pick it anyway.

Choosing quantity over lethality? Would you pick a SMG over a battle rifle just because of clip size?

Or an SMG over a Rocket Launcher :B

H3MT's AR seemed near useless in comparison to the one in Halo 1, and I'm assuming they worked to get it as close to Halo 3 as possible.

I'd take Halo 1's AR over Halo 3's. I've looked over it:

It takes 16 shots of the AR to kill someone in Halo 3 out of a clip of 32.
It takes 16 shots of the AR to kill someone in Halo 1 out of a clip of 60.

Accuracy in Halo 3 is higher, but the firing rate is about half, and the projectiles move MUCH, MUCH slower. So the Halo 1 AR sprays more but it's firing rate is really high and the clip is much deeper, so really, it's MORE effective than the one in Halo 3, but all the other weapons are so much stronger they shadow it.

right thank you muki. as i said before, the assault rifle isnt the best weapon, but it isnt sucklicious either. i play a gametype called "swat" on halo ce with my friends, which is no radar, no shields, human weapons only, and 150% health. the assault rifle is sucklicious with kills, as in it vacuums them in like... a vacuum...

H3MT can't mock the H3 AR correctly. Anything they do is beside the point.

It's mainly when everyone else has a pistol (the real noob weapon) that the H1 AR is useless. It's like Team BRs; what's the point in using an AR when people use common sense and back up with a BR?

I'm not talking about Anims, I'm talking about tagwork and projectile stuff. A lot more is needed than just Accuracy adjustments and projectile errors. If it isn't exactly like Halo3, then something wrong happened.

Go to the map Hayabusa Ruined. It has a pretty good Assault Rifle in it.
