Hello everyone!

I am getting a runtime error when exporting from Gmax with Chimp. The runtime error is: Out of script memory - use options to increase.

Does anyone know how to increase the available memroy for the script?

Thank you, Krispy1001

How big is your map? (as in polygons)

Hi chrisk123999, Thank you for reading my post and writing a response.

I am not really sure on how to find out how many polygons are in my map. I have read the HEK tutorial two times, and I see where it talks about polygons and not going over a certain count. But I did not see where they told you how to calculate the count.

I have only 2 months of experience under my belt for making Holo CE Maps. This will be my second Map made. So I have a lot to learn. Could you please explain to me how to find my polygon count. I have looked at the information in the Dos command window when I ran the structure command in tools, but I did not see polygons listed.

Now I do see it when I make a Tag and run the Model command.

Thank you, Krispy1001

I'm assuming your using Gmax. Go to the scripts tab, and look for something that says polygon counter or something like that. I use Max now, so I can't remember.

Thank you, chrisk123999 for writing back.

I looked in every possible place in Gmax for a count for polygons but could not find. But I did find the total face count that is in my level. I can calculate how many polygons are in my level by taking the total face count and dividing by 2. So there are 17,452 faces in my level: 17,452\2 = 8,726 polygons in my level.

I found it, the maximum count for a level is 10,000.

I am well within that range. Why then am I getting that runtime error?

Thank you, Krispy1001

How much memory does your computer have? There is also an option on gmax to increase the script memory. Don't know where though, been to long.

My system has 4 gig.

I will look through all the Gmax settings, and see if I can find the option that allows a user to increase the scrip memory.

Thank you, Krispy1001

I forgot to put a t at the end. That's what happens when I post late at night...

find out how many tris your map is by going on face and selecting all of them, it will say how many underneath. to increase scripter memory, go to customise, then go preferences, then on the MAXscript tab, increase "initial heap allocation" to 500 or so.
