Make their dying effect spawn the .equipment? There's another method, but I just can't bring it to mind.

I think it's in the biped tag, I can't remember exactly where, but I think it's near where you specify the grenades it carries.

It's in the actor variant. At the very bottom, where it says amount of grenades dropped, there's an equipment box. Put the needler ammo there.

06.23.09 17:00:13 cannot add grenades or non-powerups to an actor's inventory as equipment... try using the 'grenade' fields maybe?

Oh, I don't think ammo counts as a powerup. According to this, you can only have them drop powerups.

Then do it with the .effect method.

1. Make a new .effect tag.
2. Add a new location, no need to put a name.
3. Add a new event, don't change the settings.
4. Add a new part.
5. Change the "location" to 0. effect_locations_block.
6. Add the .equipment tag in the type.
7. Save the tag.
8. Open the collision geometry.
9. This bit, I'm not too sure about. For, say, the marine, change the destroyed threshold to 50.
10. Add your .effect in the body destroyed effect.

needler ammo is also picked up from the gun, like any Human weapon, why bother putting ammo? it's not a use-once gun

It should work. Try again. Did debug give anything?

BtW, what's the point of having ppl drop ammo when its dropped with the gun anyway?

make it look more realistic? as in real life, ammo is found in ammo packs, not all the ammo is stuffed into the gun

If you master at least this much, you can have them drop more useful items, like powerups, or warthogs.

You just inspired the greatest idea ever: nuke grenades.
