Just to give you people a fun time for thinking, and to solve some questions for me, I want to know if these are possible (all for SP):
1. Have an auto-targeting system that tags each biped with a description and readout when you can see them. (possibly attach sprites to them?...)
2. Show the biomonitors of teammates.
3a. In the pause menu include schematics of the level (make another widget with a simple bitmaps right?)
3b. How about attaching a "you are here" kind of thing to it?
Thanks in advance!

1) The thing that displays text for when you point the sniper rifle at someone, is something to do with the numbers subheading in the weapon_hud_interface tag. I don't think there is a way to determine what kind of biped you're looking at.
2) There are scripts to retrieve the health of a teammate, but the problem is, there isn't a way to display it. The only thing that comes to mind is the hud_text, but that gets to be kinda problematic after a while.
3a) Probably.
3b) Most likely, not.

3b could be done with trigger volumes, it would detect where you are in the map and then update the image to show that you are in that trigger volume. Is this not correct?

1. I was thinking sort of a sprite tag gets attached to there head, but you can only see it when they are out in the open, and since it is a sprite you are always looking straight on at it. So it would look like they are getting targeted. Of course invisible guys wouldn't get this.
2. Couldn't you apply the vehicle seat hierarchy somehow? Isn't that possible elsewhere, of is it hard coded?
@Sabre
That would be a lot of trigger volumes, and then you would also have to have a bitmap for being in each area, so I guess that is out of the question.
----
Ok, another question:
4. Could I get doors to only be able to be opened after having a plasma grenade explode near them?

Won't work.

Ok, another question:
4. Could I get doors to only be able to be opened after having a plasma grenade explode near them? Is the explosion controlled? Sorry bout that. I put responses in green, but couldn't post because of the 60 second thing. I went away for a while, and when I got back, I was logged out. I re-logged back in, and it looked like everything I had was already typed.

OK, for 4 it would not. I mean, you would be expecting it, but not exactly when. Let me change it a bit. Could I get marines to pry open a door? If not I will just have to resort to having a shooting fest to blow open the door.
And for 1, couldn't I have an attachment in the biped tag that is a sprite?
E: just looked. Maybe I could have an effect that is a sprite that never ends, and doesn't do anything either? Edited by Headhunter09 on Jun 3, 2009 at 07:07 AM
