ok, i finaly got my first map to compile into a .map. i waited like 10 minutes for the game to load. then i started my map and i didn't spawn. it just kept saying "waiting for (something)" i can't remeber, i'm out of game now so i can't check. and i was half out of the bottom of the map while it was just sitting there. anny suggestions?

E: the thing says "waiting for space to clear"

Do you have spawn points? Are there any units obstructing said spawn points? Is the map type set to "Multiplayer"?

i have 7 spawn points. all in the open. it is set to multiplayer.

make sure they are Slayer, CTF,Etc default and enabled

Spawn points for the AI? Or for the player?

And make sure the AI(or something) isn't set to move to block the player's spawn points.

Oh, I have got to get the numerous AI spawning issue threads out of my head.

But still, something has to be blocking it. But if you have 7 spawn points, how could a full 16 players spawn?

They just re-use the ones you put down. If you only put down 1 spawn point, all players will spawn at that point.

I don't think that it's something that's blocking it. Did you set them all to "all games", or their designated gametypes?

You probably forgot to set them for gametypes. Or if your trying to load it on CTF, you didn't set the teams on them.

But from what I know if the map isn't set for the gametype you get an exception,
right?

You get an exception with different gametypes if you don't set down a flag/hill/ball spawn.

You have to place a hill/ball/flag spawn, like Myth said, otherwise it will only work in Slayer gametypes. Also lay down appropriate starting locations.

Returning to the guy's original question, copy and paste the .scenario and rename it. Open the copied scenario and delete all scenery, vehicles, weapons and everything else. Then comoile and run in slayer. If it still tells you 'Waiting for Space to clear' come tell us.

so, i didn't try to open in ctf, just trying in slayer. and this is basically a test map so i know how to do everything, not trying anything fancy. i'm not publishing it so no need for 16 players. i don't have AI.

ok, so here's what i have done since my last post.

i made sure that the spawn points had a gametype (which they didn't).
i re compiled my map.
opened the game but the level wasn't there. tryed it again.
tryed opening my map, get the message "unable to join game" for my own server.
tryed a difforent map, still got the same message.
i did what polamee said, but i can't check it because i still got the "unable to join game" message

You just need the proper key to open it.

Here is what you should do.

open sapien, then go to Player starting points.
Place starting points into bases such as the red or blue base, If its in the red base keep the team index to 0 for the blue base the team index is 1. Then you should choose what type of gamemodes you can use for the spawn points such has oddball, so change type 0. to oddball(You don't have to keep it oddball it can be any other gamemodes too.) and then you should spawn. please reply if the tutorial didn't work.

ok, i don't have bases. it's just a box basically. it's foresty. all i want is to get it working in game. and i can't even try your tutorial until somebody helps me with another problem, THE MAPS WON'T LOAD.

Just test your map on a LAN game. Sounds like you are using a dedi...

ok, i've determined that the reason that i got that error msg is something to do with the game files. i tryed it on my laptop and after all your guys' help, it works now. and i spawned. i'll just have to play it there until i fix/reinstall Halo CE on my PC.
