Would it be possible to put in a map something like "killer rain", where inside buildings you are fine, but if you step outside you suffer damage? I only call it killer rain for lack of a better term. Or for example, if you had a desert map and you wanted the "heat" to damage you, (Same thing; nly example, don't bring up stuff about the Chief's suit protecting him; I can think of a million different scenarios.) how would you get the player to be damaged by simply entering a specified area?

you could have either scenery with damage effect tags attached, but this would require a lot of scenery, or possibly (i'm not sure if this works) have a trigger volume so whenever you go in it, you get damaged. This would need a script, and i'm not sure if its possible to script damage.

Or you could put trigger volumes right outside doors to kill the player.

i think the trigger volume would work. Fill the entire outside space where the player could go with trigger volumes, and then script in damage (it is possible)

I do believe there is a command called damage_effect or something, if Gamma could clarify, I've made acid rain where it ate through your shields. I saw it around the shield charging stuff in a10's script file....

To create an "acid rain" effect, I would put a trigger volume inside the house that you want to be protected. Then, I would have the script, which activates whenever you aren't inside the trigger volume. The script would look something like this: (script continuous chocolate_rain (sleep 15) (if (not (volume_test_objects safety (players)) ) (begin (damage_object "weapons\assault rifle\bullet" (list_get (players) 0)) ) ) )
I'm pretty sure this works. The trigger volume for safety is called "safety", and the script waits every half second to check whether you're inside the safe zone or not. If not, it damages the first player with an assault rifle bullet. If this is for MP, and you want it to affect all players, you have to copy and paste this 15 times, while incrementing the 0. The cycle repeats every half second. And for the record, MJOLNIR suits can protect from acid rain. It's similar to squirting lemon juice at the suit, except lemon juice is 100 times more acidic. Edit: Formatted it for ya. Edited by Gamma927 on Apr 20, 2009 at 06:53 PMEdited by Gamma927 on Apr 20, 2009 at 06:54 PM

then the scenario could be a leaking battlecruiser, or debris chunks, or clouds of nanites that pierce and destroy MJOLNIR armor specifically.

Leaking Battlecruiser: The fuel fits into hazard waste, which the MJOLNIR armor is built to withstand Debris chunks: If they're large enough, you'll die anyway. And try making a map with that, will you? Clouds of nanites: What? What could itsy-bitsy nano robots do to hurt a huge 6-ton hulk of armor? Considering that any particle flying fast enough will be fried by the energy shielding, without much effect. Again, try making a map with this.

Heat is more plausible than anything, MJOLNIR armor is heavy, constricting, and makes you itch in places you didn't know you have.
