i am planing to make a single player map of bloodgulch called survival of 100 marines. you play as an elite and you have 2 hunters on your team trapped in the middle of bloodgulch while marines from all sides of bloodgulch try to flank u. i want to know is it possible to have the game save when i kill a number of marines say 20 marines then it saves? and is it possible to trigger a cutscene right after i kill the 100 marines? what do i put in the script if possible?

If you want a checkpoint to happen in a group of 100 Marines when 80 are left alive, name your encounter "thedeadmarineslol" and the script for saving a checkpoint when 20 of them are dead would be:

(script startup yourgrammmarsucks
(sleep_until (= (ai_living_count thedeadmarineslol) 80) 15)
(game_save_totally_unsafe)
)

I have to warn you about the implications of adding 100 Marines; Sapien might refuse to spawm them or your comp might lag severely.

what do i replace yourgrammersucks with and what does the 15 stand for? and still how do i trigger a cutscene right after 100 kills

yourgrammarsucks is the name of the script, it can be anything as long as there isn't two different scripts with the same name.

15 I believe is how long until the next event happens.

yourgrammarsucks is the name of the script, it can be anything as long as there isn't two different scripts with the same name.

its not that hard to remember.... :)
and thats only the basics of scripting. There still the globals in scripting. (which are harder but still not that hard to remember) and even if you forget just search it through the bible.

OMG!!!!! you dont need the tutorials that much though. The bible shows a basic example of how to compile it into the scenario and to write them up. Whilst supplying the script themselves

I never told you either...

As for learning how to script, I began with a simple tutorial on trigger volumes. Then, once you understand that, you can use the Scripting Bible to get more commands. Once you have those commands, put them into a script, and make a map. The basic commands that you have to know are:

(ai_place [ai])

(object_create [object])

(sleep_until (volume_test_objects [trigger volume] [object]) 15)

(sleep_until (= (ai_living_count [ai]) [number]) 15)

(game_save_totally_unsafe)

(ai_command_list [ai] [command list])

(sleep [ticks])

(vehicle_load_magic [vehicle] [seat] [object list])


I made http://www.xfire.com/video/a2fb2/ out of these commands alone.

actually you have. cant remember if it was the thread or not but i think it was the one about have 2 people in a trigger volume. Which you posted. Though it doesnt really matter i dont want to argue about it or anything.
