I noticed that an elevator, a device which moves you up and down, is possible in Halo CE SP. However, is it possible to create a Gondola, like in Halo 2 (Quarantine Zone and Regret), so it moves you from side to side instead of up and down?

Yes it is possible to make a gondala with proper animations and the proper animation exporting formant. I think the right one to export animations if there moving side to side would be the other form of JMA the other animation format (can't think of the name now :()

It would work, if it was a device machine.

Guru made a lift that moved side to side with the Player remaining on top without being killed or falling off. The player was still able to move around on top of it and jump while staying along the path of the block and was achieved by making it a device machine.
