Okay, so; I've been messing with 3DS Max quite a bit lately, figured out a lot of things about modeling that I didn't know. Finally managed to make a base, and made a little warehouse with two levels, actually managed to make an enclosed building. First time for everything, good progress... Never liked modeling before, but now I do.
Unfortunately, the map I was working on wasn't supposed to be an outdoor map like it ended up; it was supposed to be indoors, with a size of 8250 x 10250. This is too small... Using the Scale tool (alongside the Move tool and Rotate tool), I tried to make it larger; this didn't work...
Is there /any/ way to resize your map after you've already converted it to an Editable Mesh/Poly; or is it stuck at those coordinates for good, and I'll have to start over?
I really don't want to start over. ;;

I just tried scaling the faces, and I assume it worked, but when I tried to re-run lightmaps, it went to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition>tool lightmaps levels\metal_fortress\metal_fortress metal_fortress 0 0.9 Couldn't read map file'./toolbeta.map' i'm going to render debug lightmaps for metal_fortress of levels\metal_fortress\metal_fortress, and i'll stop when red+blue+green = 0.900000. Hit control+c now if this isn't right. WARNING: 1 clusters in structure_bsp levels\metal_fortress\metal_fortress have no background sound or sound environment. start levels\metal_fortress\metal_fortress It sat there for about 3 minutes, and now just added: 0.000000 Does it taking forever imply it's larger? xD; Edit: Didn't change much, but I'm trying again. I rescaled the map again and the Object Properties showed larger coordinates, so I'm recompiling the map to check... Edited by MF Boom on Feb 8, 2009 at 04:31 PM

Does it taking forever imply it's larger? xD; Depending on the complexity of your map it will take longer to run commands on it (structure, lightmaps, cache-file) I once had one which took 6-7 minutes to run lightmaps :| And, I scaled the model, but you could just select the outside vertices and scale them also Edited by UnevenElefant5 on Feb 8, 2009 at 06:12 PM

But when I selected all of the faces, then used the scale tool, it worked just fine. Now it's ridiculously huge when I only scaled it to 20500 x 16500 (basically, doubled)... Oh well, it works. Unfortunately, I ran into another issue. God, not having made maps in such a long time, you forget things... In Guerilla, I checked the sky, added all the vehicles to the Vehicle Palette, as well as in the Globals.globals... I added starting points, weapons, and vehicles in Sapien. Starting points /is/ "Player Starting Points", right? Also, I added the flag for both teams in "Netgame flags", and added an oddball (didn't bother with KotH, since I never play it anyway; I'll add it later if I decide to finish it up, this was just for a test run)... What could I have forgotten to check? Because, when I opened the map in Halo, I /instantly/ got an exception.

did you set the scenario to multi? Edited by Maniac1000 on Feb 9, 2009 at 09:21 PM Thank you! That's exactly what I forgot... Ugh, not having made maps in over a year, with amnesia, you /really/ tend to forget pretty much -everything-... Luckily I didn't /lose/ the knowledge of what to do, I just forgot it. Thanks again; If I run into any more issues [which is unlikely, since most of my issues initially were with 3DS Max, and I'm better at that now], I'll post 'em here [new thread though, since editing doesn't really help.]... All the help I've gotten is really appreciated. Edited by MF Boom on Feb 10, 2009 at 05:04 PM
