I've self taught my self through countless tutorials and what not. But if you need anyone for mapping or modeling with 3ds max I can do it.

I'm currently working on a map though that I told a bunch of people I would work on for them, and I would like to get that done eventually though, don't want to disappoint them.

Here's something I've been working on for a couple of days.

It's just my map, I got the opinions and I know what I need to fix, my texturing is terrible though I do know the basics of UVW mapping.

Thats the post for my map if you want to look at it.

Mind posting some pics of the BSP? Is it still a lava level? Btw, I've got some good lava shaders I've been messing with if you need them.

im a dirtier shizno!!!!!

Here's the pictures of the lava shaders. You should know, I took the bitmap from http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2857Lava Lamp SimuLaCrum doesnt say anything about not reusing tags. I only used his because for some odd reason, the regular water bitmap was not working with my shaders :/

Far Away

Also, as an unintended consequence, the lava gets more orange the farther away you get, but it should not make a difference unless there are flying vehicles in our map.

Lava map inside a volcano. That spinning scenery churns the lava and turns it into heat for the forerunners. Nake it roughly cylindrical with multiple ledges and you can fall off into the lava in the center. There are also some caves for passageways and bases. Also I think we should make a scenery that spews lava and fire every 30 seconds or so, you know for effect, put it in the center of the lava. Anyways, that's just what I think would be cool.

it looks like red water. make it more brown, make it look less like liquid, add smokes and fire and sounds.

The smoke fire and sound can be added in with scenery later, this was just to test the shaders. I'll mess around with the color when I get home from school though

i have a nice comcept but idk if its like what you want at all. its more of a detailed map you would see in multiplayer. here

You would probobly like it better if you zoomed in. I made that design 3 years ago lol i just found it earlier today with some old movie scripts.

We are doing a lava themed map. It looks good though, I just don't know if it would fit. :\

Anyways, quick poll:
This Lava:

Or this Lava:

There IS a difference.

Yeah me too. The first one was the original shader, while the second one is the darker version.

said to make it to look less like a liquid by making bitmap more smooth.

i like it the way it is, and lava like this WOULD look like liquid, because it is moving like water almost, so it would be brighter. When it gets darker it means it is not moving. And I don't really want to mess around with the bump map, because i have no idea how it works.
I was aiming for this:

i ment first actually. see how the color is more smoother? let me remind you that lava is made of molten rocks.

If you had read the rest of my post you would have known that I said I was unwilling to mess with the bump map. Unless someone else wants to change the bump map or someone on the team objects to how it looks, that is probably how the shaders will stay.
