In my case, the join date is right. I joined just after starting to hang around the forums. But I've known about Halo Maps practically since I got Halo CE in early 2006, so I've been around Halo CE for longer than that. Edited by Me KS on Jan 30, 2009 at 06:05 PM

I wonder, I think you could make a duplicate of the recticle, put it on top of the other, make it's default colour transparent and it's flashing colour green, the only problem then would be making it flash when you point at a team-mate, rather than an opponent (would that be possible??).

That kind of ruins any chance of being able to write a script.

yeah, you probably cant do it, but the game engine knows when your pointing at a enemy, so like, if you aren't aiming at an enemy, but are aiming at a player, it must be a friendly, if you get where I'm going with that?

You cant because there is no way for the game to know if your aiming at a friendly or not. And you cant make it flash green, because then it would conflict with the red flashing, and only the red would show up, or it would not flash at all.

could this work:
attach a biped to every friendly, and check if each biped is within a certain FOV, and then do something with a weapon that has a sprite for an action, or place something in front of the player, or apply a screen effect that is a green reticule. The one problem is that you wouldn't know what gun the player is holding? or would you?

This isn't possible. Unless the Computer can determine what team is on your side and simultaneously generate a new color of the reticle for it, it's not possible.

i suppose it would be possible, but you would have to create a new teamand set them as an enemy. you see them as an enemy but make them think you are a friendly. (for example if you are team 1, and enemies are team 2, make a team 3, then have all you allies be team 3, the team 3 would have to attack team 2 and be neutral with team 1.) its complicated, then youd have to change the rectlicle for that team, (the deafault should be red) to be green, so to you they are an enemy and they call for a change in the recticle, but they wont attack you and they will fight your enemies. thats the only way i can think of doing it. Edited by soviet on Apr 16, 2009 at 11:58 PM Thats not possible

there are no functions to make this happen. you can attach bipeds to whatever you want, after the computer knows where you are looking, what function is it going to look at to turn the reticle green? as far as i know, there are not any for halo 1

Why would you want a green reticle? It isn't necessary, if it isn't red it isn't an enemy, simple enough.

If not, I suppose this thread serves no practical purpose.

It isn't necessary, if it isn't red it isn't an enemy, simple enough. this. also, there is a function either in the weapons tag or the hud tag for a weapon that determines how close you have to be to an enemy for the reticle to turn red over them. does anyone know what that function is and where it is, and how to accurately set it? all weapons reticules should turn red on enemies only if the enemy is in the weapon's effective range. there have been alot of times where i couldnt tell if people far away from me in games were on my team or not though, so there is some defense of the green reticle.

The function that tells when the reticle to turn red, is in the weapon tag. I think "near reticle range" and the other values around that.
