So i was thinking that if we were able to modify the game engine to give it a new netcode and some other attachments to it if it would be possible to make mach tags ai and everything else that wasn't able to sync before sync with this method?

Open Sauce might make it happen, but probably not. AI have too many variables to synch

Sorry nvm i just thought that if we could use opensauce to give the game a new netcode similiar to halo 3's or a new custom one that could work almost as well or maybe even the same so that CE could sync. Well i guess i was trying for nothing D:

it might be possible if it's 3rd party
Huh... not likely. It took Bungie to make a complete re-write of the base code to make it work. No one doing third party memory hacking will make AI sync on-line in Halo 1. The core routines are just not in the program and can't be put in via memory hacking.

Just wow. If you don't know what open sauce is then don't talk like you do. Thank you.

What word might that be? It looks correct to me. What he said was that Bungie required a complete re-write of the base code to make the AI syncing work.

Hmm I think it would be possible to modify the base code/rewrite it with a few methods I have of it none involving memory hacking. I'll look into it more.

No just poorly worded. What I meant is that Bungie had to rewrite the base code of the game PLUS the netcode, which is part of the base code, to make AI sync on-line. Not once but twice.

It is fools dream to think that a memory hack will allow for that kind of re-write. Not only that but both the client AND the server would have to be re-written. It is not going to happen.

Do scripted actions work over a network? Granted it'd be boring as hell but couldn't you just script the enemies action and then run a second script to kill them on each players system at the same time?
I'm not well versed in the scripting/AI's of Halo.

It's like playing multiplayer Atari!! haha

its kind of complicated. the issue is that absolute no ai data is sent over the web, so while they might be following a command list, they can deviate based on their movement settings, and they can be aiming differently on each computer based on thier random look functions.
and then there are the randomized inaccuracies.
there just really no way to make this work well.

The best you could hope for is fake synching, like the covie shield generator, or automatic doors. An actor that does nothing but shoot if someone is directly in front of it. Like arrows coming out of a wall in Tomb Raider.

this could work for sentry turrets and such. the issue is following commands. perhaps if you scripted the ai to follow and shoot at anybody in a trigger volume, it would sync because of the player position.
i suppose the catch to that would be removing every single random element from the ai's tag

well, im sure you could just mod blood gulch (yeah, i know. i dont wanna hear it. :|) and put an vehicle there with ai built into that only becomes active when a player is in a trigger volume.
if having the AI aim on a limited angle doesnt sync, then maybe a fixed flamethrower turret like the security systems in gears 2 campaign to cut off narrow areas.
im just throwing ideas around here, but the flame turret doesnt even require AI

im sure you have something that pisses you off every time you see it. for me, its people who mess with computers like e3po does. he uses his ability to hack to intimidate people, and as you can clearly see, he shows no remorse about his assorted acts of cyber-douchebaggery. hi i just ruined some kid's day and logged into his halomaps profile by extracting his password out of an internet cookie.
i know im taking it a little far, but can you honestly tell me you condone his behavior?

It was educational, not only for him. He pointed out a weakness to Dennis, didn't he? Maybe obnoxious, but not malicious. Aside from some scare, I don't think anyone actually got hurt, so I think it's easily forgivable.
What were you trying to do, anyway? Change someone's avatar quote to "I'm a pretty princess"?

(If this leads to us all getting along again, then I protest any claim that this is off-topic, as e3po may possibly (but probably no one can) help make said thread title happen)

im not just talking about the forum exploit. his hacked hek had malware in it. one of the many things it could possibly do is log keystrokes. o hey did you just buy something on google? cool. you typed in your credit card number? cool. im going to go buy something now, with your credit card number
i doubt e3po was doing stuff like that, but there WAS malware in his programs, which means anything could have happened.

cut the arrogant crap. you know exactly what i mean. when i say "everything" right after talking about malware and identity theft, im talking about things like keylogging, password storing, a bot that searches for keys and things of that nature in your computer's registry.
oh btw, he programmed the malware. it is e3po's malware
is there something you guys dont understand about this?
edit: i would bring in the shovel, but at least your post makes sense. its about as big of a stretch as that woman on aol.com news who just had her 18th kid 2 months ago, but it makes sense.

That's quite an accusation to make. You shift blame on him only in your last sentance. You don't know, but want to look like you know. More than I doubt his ability to make one, I doubt your ability to know he made it. In any case, you probably didn't download it from a trustworthy server like Dennis's, so there's another lesson learned. See? We're growing. Together. It's beautiful.

ok, youve earned it.

it was on halomaps. i didnt even download it. i have kornman's HEK
im honestly at a loss for words. for once i cannot come up with anything fitting to frame around the stupidity of that post.
E3po hek. original hek hacked by e3po. whether he programmed the malware himself or not, IT WAS PRESENT IN HIS HEK which means HE PUT IT THERE. and if your iq surpasses the shovel i posted above this, its pretty easy to understand that if e3po put malware in his hacked program, that he had the intent to do something malicious. again, i didnt even download it. look up, dennis said he removed it because it contained malware.
this isnt difficult to understand, but incase you are just TL;DR'ing everything i say, let me play it down for you:
e3po hacks hek. e3po released hacked hek to dennis server. dennis uploads. people download. hek contains malware. people use program. malware does its thing on the computer, in this case, sending info back to e3po.

is this simple enough? should i make an arrow diagram?
edit: seriously, of all the time i have seen you here, i figured you were a sensible human being.

Malware are known for putting themselves in programs, you know. Careless, sure, but not malicious. Your bickering just isn't enough for me to disdain someone. But I'll give you the benefis of the doubt and search "e3po", "remove" & "malware" posts by Dennis ;)

(Guess what I think you should do with your shovel)

oh thats very mature of you. lets not forget how he booted KID off of xfire, or exploited the forum glitch.
oh and there was one time a while back, in 2007 i believe, when somebody went through halomaps and changed everyone's password to a 30 character long random password and changed their avatar quotes to "owned by hogdriver"
he did something to the site and figured out what my password was and xfired it to me.
i dont think you understand exactly whats going on. a while back somebody started complaining that their tool star wasnt working. e3po had disabled it from his computer.
you want to tell me that the malware in his hacked hek just got there on its own? didnt he have the friggin fbi bust down his door and confiscate his desktop a while back for ignoring a C&D from microsoft when he was making his engine hack thing?

also, my mistake. dennis didnt post about e3po's hek being removed in this thread.
and if you really want proof, i have some old htmls i saved on his various acts of douchebaggory for just an occasion like this

sup, i found dennis post btw:
Quote: --- Original message by: Dennis
It was removed because it contained malware that required it to phone home without prior notice to the user.

this thread: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=23027

and listen, im not telling you to hate e3po. im saying that he is a hacker and could have malicious intent. so far he has been pretty benign. but hey, iv i have a benign tumor, I WANNA KNOW ABOUT IT. my original post was to point out and shove in the fact that "everyone" hates e3po because of his own actions. you guys decided to call me out and now the whole thing is "who can piss further? me or you?"

oh, and i enjoy every minute of sexual pleasure i get from my 121x121 thumbnail of a shovel, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Depends on how you look at it. Get it? Depends... mature... ah, i kill myself.

I certainly won't forget. Totally.

Forum glitch was discussed, (is your post all filler?)

Weather or not he has malicious intent depends alot on how we treat him. Disrespect earns disrespect, as you may have noticed a moment ago. The disrespect of a hacker can be a rather pronounced disrespect. And based on posts I've read here, some people have definately earned some. But not all, e3po. :/ Bad hacker. Bad, bad, bad. Shame on you. Now go make AI synch.

what the hell? seriously, what the hell? thats the only thing i can tack onto this pointless arguement now. i have no idea what is lodged in your frontal lobe, but i stated facts in my last post. solid facts. lots of them. the forum WAS glitched, e3po DID exploit it, and only AFTER exploiting it for some of his own personal "lols" did he report it. at that point i lost all respect for him because guess what? exploiting a glitch to edit somebody else's account is disrespectful, and i dont go for that sort of thing. yeah, nobody likes a hacker, especially one that provides software for people to use in game modding. god. do you see what he did? or were you just not around for most of it? im asking a serious question here. how much of e3po's drama were you here for? were you here for the tool star saga? or how he promised he would hack the person who leaked his surf map? did you see how he pissed off KIDD then logged him off? he uses his ability to hack as an intimidation factor. how do you not see this?
also uh, dont talk about filler when you double space your posts and make immature sex jokes all the time.
and what in the hell are you talking about with poo memory sticks? is that because it took me a few minutes to log back on to respond to your post?

so hey there shovelite, the clan is recruiting

edit for the hell of it: poo sticks guys.

srsedit: does anyone have that picture that e3po uploaded where he blames us "haters" for shutting down tool star?

srsedit2: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=22129&start=1
for the love of god, try doing some research next time

editftW:
yeah honestly, im not sure what your argument is there bobbysoon. all i know is that even in lieu of all this information you continue to battle for e3po. or maybe you arnt even fighting for e3po anymore and instead are just battling me? yeah...not smart. history has shown us that.

last edit for tonight: yeah its 1:07 am at time of writing. im tired. we can continue this tomorrow if dennis doesnt lock/delete it. in the mean time, i will be saving this page for offline viewing pleasure.

I have no way of knowing intent I only know what was done. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. There was nothing in the readme or in that program itself that indicated that it would phone home and it did so without the owner’s consent. As a result trust was lost and no program developed by him will be hosted here at Halo Maps.

This is incorrect. Three accounts were accessed because they had weak passwords (password="password") and they were guessed.

People are always pounding on the websites, whether it be trying to guess passwords, or inject map vote ratings via proxies or bots that try to post spam on every form. These gaming websites are hosted on a separate sandbox server from our commercial hosting precisely because I knew that some teenager would attempt to hack it because he was pissed about some imagined slight or so he could show off his ‘lete hacking skillz” to make him/herself look cool. This way I wouldn’t, by contract, have to report each childish incident to my corporate clients which would bring the full weight of their legal departments to bear on the offenders. A prospect you do not want upon you. They scare the bejeebers out of me.

Trust is earned and once lost hard to regain. There are consequences for every one of your actions and if your actions are improper the cost can be high. In this case the cost to the offender was minimized but could have been catastrophic. Remember that there is absolutely no difference between hacking a website and trying to pick the lock on someone’s house. They are both criminal actions.
