(I WANTED to use sketchUp, leave it at that, if I wanted to use blender or any other software, I would have.) I am making some weapons (quickies) in SketchUp, I need to know what should be added, removed, thrown in front of a bullet, etc. The first weapon I need a suggestion on, is the HE Pistol, talked about in the Novel "Halo: First Strike". The HE Pistol was similar to the regular pistol, only larger, and more powerful. (Known as an un-tested prototype in the Novel). Its a start; Some good features, are that the bullet can be loaded, either by clip, or through the side chamber. (This is an "only" right-handed pistol; I do not know why I decided to make it like that, but its still pretty cool.) (Note: That there is a handle on the suppressor, to lower the amount of kick-back on your wrist.) (HE's can load a powerful kick.) I Think I have done a good job, but I need your guys/girls opinion (no critisism).Edited by KillerKip1 on Nov 27, 2008 at 10:01 PM

The handle on the barrel is not a clip, and it does not have textures, yet.

Am I the only person to think that its a good idea? I love the idea, and would love to have more tags in my weapons folder.
But it is boxy.

is that supposed to be a pistol? because to me it looks more like a smg or something with that stock. and if u get rid of the stock then u need to make the grip way less boxy (no offense)

Dont put that extra handle directly on the barrel, in real life it could break off that way. Instead, move it back more. btw its way too boxy.

Woah! Awesome! Kids in halomaps.org going offtopic. What's new? Seriously stfu. Go on, tell me that I should kill myself because I have had 20 accounts, but really. The kid is trying to show off his work and you guys just nail him for it!
Anyway, dude. The model is boxy but is Def a good start If you can however, put it into max, fix the errors, and get it ingame (Without too much of a struggle) go for it! It's probably not the best of ways, but if it works then it works.

Back on topic.
(I wanted to use sketchup.)
These are concepts, I would not allow these to even be put in 3ds max or blender in there current condition, these are merely early concepts.

For someone who was having troubles with primitives in 3ds max; you have advanced....INCREDIBLY fast for the very small amount of time taken between then and now; sketchup may be different and all, but please elaborate...? Am I missing something here?? >.>

Also @ the HE Pistol, don't make the trigger guard so round. Bring it in a little. A little more like the original Pistol

hmm, does sketchup export in 3ds or obj? good luck uv maping those. id recomend using sketch up for concept and finish up models in 3ds max. personaly, i use zmodeler for making models and 3ds max for animating and all the other stuff need to make gbx models.

None of these weapons are AK-47. There is 2 HE Pistol Concepts, and a STG-44 Assault Rifle.
(I am working in sketchUp, not 3ds max.)
CODY: yes, but you need Pro, and I have yet to get it. And I really dont like using zmodeler, its too un-familiar.

Sketchup exports are messy. Their triangles seem randomly flipped. Since sketchup doesn't export jms files, you'll have to convert your models at some point, so I suggest sooner than later, so you have less mess to fix. Edited by bobbysoon on Nov 29, 2008 at 10:43 PM

well, what ever you choose is up to you but eventualy u'll need gmax or 3ds max to make the gbx models. i use zmodeler for modeling and it also can export .3ds so i can load the models into 3ds max for all the animating and stuff. dont ever buy sketch-up pro for making halo mods, not worth it. i'll try to get on xfire sometime this week (getting some hi gain wifi antenas)

I would never use sketchup for the final model, to many errors in converting. I use 3ds Max 8. (more models to come soon, we are currently working on the movie, so it may be about 2 days.) Edit: This Ranger was done by Cody, our vehicle designer, it is very fun to drive (not the one you saw previously, it has been modified.) Its very fun to drive, Wheelies!. and role overs.
