Deadlock

This is my new map Deadlock. It's small and not intended for slayer. It's a multiplayer map that acts like a "survival mode" game. It will be a multiplayer map so you can play with our friends (Even though AI DO NOT sync.). As of now it's still in it's beta stages. Here are some screenshots...






*Need Help*
I would like to script a count up timer on the bottom right corner. (See how long you last)
I would like to script AI. Meaning script them running through the ally.
I would like to script AI difficulty increasing as time goes by.
(Infection, human, elite, infection and human, infection and elite, human and elite, all.)
Basically I need help scripting.
*Please Note*
I know AI DO NOT sync.
Sky is not final.
More scenery will be added.
Help is needed. (Credit will be given.)

really good job. I like the touch of the downed peli. you could add some dead elite and marine bodys there also.

I'll script for you if you want. However, I'm pretty sure you can't make the timer count in elapsed time, so I think you're out of luck with that option. The AI moving through the ally is more command lists then scripting, however the increasing difficulty can easily be done with a variable that counts up over time, and then checking to see who is surviving and spawn new enemies based on that.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just thought of something. You could make the timer thing possible, except you wouldn't be able to see hundredths of a second counting up, but that's insignificant. Basically, just use the


(hud_set_timer_time <short> <short>)

sets the time for the timer to <short> minutes and <short> seconds, and starts and displays timer

command every single tick so it doesn't have time to count down, and using a variable being counted up in another script, set the timer to a second higher every 30 ticks, and count upwards based on that. Solved.

Well, this is complicated and would take a lot of time to explain over Xfire, so it'd be better if you sent me the map and then told me exactly what you need so I can set up the encounters and other things right.

Ok, Once I'm final with the scenery placements I'll send you the map via Xfire.

Also is it possible for the AI to know where you are all the time? So nobody can just hide.

acualy I heard that if you script the ai (and yes every thing about them combat, strategy, etc) that they will sync 90 percent of the time but idk I just heard that on a forum advertising a map called truth and recon that used scripted ai

hey, ill help you script, under the condition that its an sp map, not mp. ill do whatever needs to happen to it to make it sp, and i think i may be able to make a counter using variables

Then I might make it a single player map. Since it's going to be open sourced if someone want's to play it with a friend they can mod it. Once I make a sky (Via Corndogman's tut) and make some scenery (Just a little debris such as bricks, little rocks etc.). Then I'll gave it scripted.

yeah u should make it a sp map; u can make it so when it timer counts down or reaches a certain limit a pelican pick u up or extraction or a banshee (mp otherwise the banshee explodes) comes rom the sky and the elite dies after u have a battle with it and u fly away?

Thanks a lot Barron. I really appreciate it.

Anyways I was kind of hoping to make it so the flood just loops. There wouldn't be an end. I was thinking of having a contest to see who lasts longest without cheating. There has always been maps with just AI that run around for no reason or SP maps where it ends with an extraction. I kind of thought, what if there was a map you never beat. The only time you win is when you get the longest survival time.

Idea: If you make a command that you type when all the players are in the game, that then starts the game mode. Will there be a higher chance of syncing AI?

It's not a game mode. It was just a map you would play with slayer or whatever game type you wanted. It's not a new game variant. Also the command idea still wouldn't work. Halo wasn't intended to have AI syncing so now it's impossible to accomplish. It's going to be a SP map now.
