Ok, before you all say anything about P0lar Bear's tutorial, i have tried it. Is there any way someone could walk me through designing a single player map in 3ds. And by single player I mean the ones that you have to open with console at the main screen to play.

I can't walk you through but I think it's very similar to creating a mp level. The big differences is that you will need to make portals (If you figure out how, tell me), and if you are making seperate bsps, i think you make them in the same 3ds max scene as one big level, but then link the sections to the frame one at a time to make seperate BSPs. Make sure that they overlap so that you have a place to make it load without the pl;ayer noticing. And of course they should be designed with single player in mind, so include places for AI, cover, choices for how to proceed etc.

In sapien, instead of placing weapons as netgame flags, you can use the regular 'weapons" and regular "equipment". And if you figure out how to put in detail objects, tell me.

lmao
2 things

1. you dont need portals in any kind of map, you can script in a looping sound and ur good
2. merge those big green things called terrain_portals in from tutorial.max and scale them appropriately
3. and to make seperate bsps, you make one seperate jms file for each

Portals are different from sound and weather clusters. Portals visually clip the level based on where the camera is, and clusters define weather, fog, background sounds, and sound environments. So what he meant was visual portals, which are good to have anyways.
