The physics will never work like an actual airplane.

But, it would be fun to see a flyable airliner or something in Halo, so it shouldn't discourage you from doing so. For a bigger plane, you would just need to slow down acceleration and especially deceleration while using "banshee" physics, and you'd have a slightly more realistic airplane feel.

The only physics that actually are near to real-life aircraft are the "human plane" physics (referring to the vehicle tag). These physics are similar to a helicopter's physics, but still aren't the same, since a real helicopter doesn't have any sort of thrust that directly pushes the helicopter forward like you do with these physics, since you can just press "forward" and the physics immediately accelerate.

Real-world helicopter pilots point the nose down to deflect the air backwards, which in turn pushes them forward. Then, they level the nose and basically fly mostly on momentum, only keeping the nose down a little to keep the air friction from slowing down the airspeed.

the more you know

any way this would be cool seeing as how pelicans arnt that fun and people only use them to kill people on the ground and not for transportation

I'd rather go without than take what you'd bring.

Then someone takes the airplane tag, mods the WTC memorial level with it, and thinks they are awesome.

You honestly think this is a bad idea just because of that one possibility?

Pelicans are fun in the right BSP.

Thanks for telling me how a helicopter flies, Me KS.

me KS you made me think of something. What about a map Which just has like 100 different planes, from normal halo flyables to custom to a boeing 747 ? I think such an idea would be awesome to put together.

Cessnas ftw.

Sure, and there's more to it, if you're interested.

You already know how a pilot in a chopper gains speed and goes forward. Well, to slow down, the pilot just points his nose up, which deflects the main propeller's air forwards, pushing in the opposite direction that the chopper is going. For a chopper pilot to turn, he just tilts the propellers left or right depending on which way he wants to turn, which tilts the helicopter left or right, letting the air deflect off the propeller to turn the chopper (this is assuming he's turning with decent forward speed though. If a pilot's hovering and tries to turn left or right, he'll strafe directly left or right).

So, weirdly enough, unlike a plane, in which:

thrust controls speed
pitch controls height changes
roll controls turns

A helicopter is:

thrust controls altitude
pitch controls speed
roll (still) controls turns

That's why flying a helicopter is much, much harder than flying an airplane.

That would be awesome. I don't know about others, but I would love a map like that, since I'm so into aviation. Go for it.

Goto walmart then goto the computergames section then buy Microsoft flight simulator 10 (x)
then goto this link
http://www.fs-freeware.net/
then become a member (free)
then download more aircraft to make the number of aircraft 100
