Has anyone ever come up with the idea to make an official CE Map Pack?

What do I mean: Well just like when halo started out, 19 maps were released and a few official servers put in place to support those maps.

The idea: Have the CE community vote in say 20 or 25 all time favorite maps. Have a few servers support these maps. Call it Halo CE Map pack V1, or something that identifies this community supported map pack. Servers need to also have an identifying name, just like Bungie had.

Sure seems players are hungry for some of the classic. On the other hand, new players only know maps like coldsnap, hugeass and the like.

We all know the map problem with CE. If you don't have it, you get the boot when maps change. I know how Dennis feels about map packs, but if it was voted in by the CE community and supported by a few servers, would this help to host it???

Question: How many of you fired up CE to find nothing you really liked being hosted? How many of you would like to get nuts in nightcamp_ce, or land bay x. (Just like old times huh). Actually, how many of you even know nightcamp_ce? LOL!

Halomaps.org does not host Map Packs. Dennis says they are unorganized and screwy.

Yes I agree with him 100%. Ever look at some of those map pack ideas? I'm talking about a Map Pack that is created by this community Halo Maps. Maps that the members nominate and vote on. Not BillyBobs top 10 my favs.

I can probably just host a map pack download on Fileden, and ask Dennis to add it to the homepage of Halomaps.

as far as i know Dennis does not even support the idea of map packs thats why he will never host one on halomaps. It's much easier i think on the servers and peoples computers to download maps individual fast. by time it took you to download a decent sized map pack you could download many more maps during the time it would have took you to download a pack.

Halomaps won't host map packs, that means halomaps most likely won't host a link to one either.

Its a pretty good idea actually, but Modacity would be a better forum for this sort of thing my friend. Too many people here who think Koldsnap is Kewl. LOLOL get the reference?

Nope, not here and not from my servers.

Map Packs are applicable for certain circumstances. For example if you host a Game Server that runs a set of maps then a the map pack for that server makes perfect sense. However a community map pack is much too large and a waste of my bandwidth - everyone has to share what bandwidth I offer which is why we only allow one download at a time. You also could never get people to agree to what maps to include. It is just easier to download the maps you want to play.

Halo Maps does not host map packs.

An official "map pack" list could be a good idea actually, partly to showcase some of the best maps. Another use for such a list would be if anyone ever manages to figure out how to assign custom map images and desciptions to custom maps, meaning pepole creating a UI.map could include the maps on the list in their UI, with a propper map image and description.

Why are they only Zteam's maps? Have you no pity for other people's creations?
