That's an UVW Unwrapp, if the model doesn't have the UV coordinates for it, it's no good to you.
Use Google or the 'F1' function in Max and look up the subject both should have some pics of how a UVW unwrapp works. Edited by YakZSmelk on Jul 31, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Quote: --- Original message by: OHunterO Basically when you unwrap something you place are the faces everywhere on a square, then you use that as a template.
Import the pelican.gbxmodel and in the modifier tab chose Unwrap UVW (something like that).
Then click edit and you should hopefully see the template, sometimes it isn't right, so you would have to unwrap it again.
You can then save that as a .png so it has alpha and skin the pelican, and if you are good enough and clever you would make the skin bigger than the normal skin so it is higher definition. yes he is rite, though if it the same model the skin came from the uvws should/will be the same. u can save as .png but remember to make it a .tif for Halos compiling reasons. and u don't say higher definition u say a higher resolution XD What i like to do so i know which bit im texturing is do as they said import the model and in the modifier tab chose Unwrap uvw and click on edit then making sure your on faces click on any part of the model and it will show you in the "edit" were the uvw's are laid out. Then u can open up Photoshop/Gimp and texture that part! :D i wish u good luck.

No I saw some tuts, but I just need to know how to make in the UV coordinates into file. I found texporter, but that is for 3ds not GMAX.

Gmax Can't render. :( E: after surfing google for a while I found this : The print screen method works...that's what I use since I'm also a Gmax user. Simply make sure you have the correct image dimensions (crop the image to only show the square containing the UV's, add a texture, then apply the image to the model.
So would I basically need to take a screenshot( or use Vista sniping tool) or the Edit window and make it the right dimensions, make the texture and apply it? WIll that work? Edited by Ro0ster on Jul 31, 2008 at 06:47 PM
