Alright, my goal when I started modeling was to model, texture, and get a great Energy Sword. So here is where I would like to have some tips on how to model it, properly texture it, and get it to have its properties (not lunge). Here are a few things I would especially like to know:

1.) The sword is slightly transparent, translucent. How would I make it see-through?

2.) The sword constantly has an aura and sparks emitting from it. How would I go about animating the sparks and cause the "aura?"

3.) How would I get that neon texture and "flowing" look that washes over the sword?

I would really appreciate the help. Don't expect results too soon, but you'll see it eventually.

all shader transparent chicagos/extended
for some things it might be shader transparent generic/plasma

wtf is A40? i hope u mean A30 and not some secret campaign map :P

EDIT: the light bridge is chicago extended.... its in tags/levels/a30/devices/torpedo_bridge/shaders

Anyways, would the wash over effect of particles over the sword be animations?

no that would be particles coming out of a marker using an effect
