My newest, and hopefully somewhat playable, map 'Headquarters' is finally ready for a beta test.

Map Name:
Headquarters

Description:
A series of interconnected hallways, ramps, and rooms mean that death could be around the next corner. A medium sized map, good for eight to twelve players. It’s asymmetry lends it to fun FFA and Team Slayer matches, as well as being as balanced as possible for objective games. A remake of the popular deathmatch level ‘Bunker’ from Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

Backstory:
Hidden in the forest near Master Chief’s landing site, this history-rich, heavily armed and armored base was turned into a headquarters for local Marines after the Covenant invaded Voi. Even the shockwave released from the ancient forerunner structure nearby wasn’t enough to unearth the tough structure. Now, as humanity starts to rebuild, it stands as the first joint Human-Sangheili military installation in history.

Extra Weapons:

BR55-Z: A 4-round per shot variant of the popular BR55 series of rifles. 4 round bursts combined with a fast firing rate means it chews through ammo very fast.

M6E Magnum: A slightly stripped down variant of the M6D. Due to the decrease in weight, firing speed has been sacrificed for overall accuracy, while still keeping the punch of its scoped cousin.

MA5V Combat Rifle: A slower firing, more accurate rifle, designed with ruggedness and durability in mind. Good for all-around combat, it doesn’t excel at anything, but is even slightly effective against vehicles.

M7 SMG: The famed M7 submachine gun of Halo lore. Good up close, crappy at mid to long range.

Notes:
I know my texturing sucks, but this is only the fourth map I’ve ever made, and my first attempt at a moderately decent and playable one. As this is a beta version of the map, there are undoubtedly things I’ve yet to fix. Things such as two faces with missing textures, weapon balances, custom pickup icons, etc.

So, PLEASE leave suggestions here as to changes I should make regarding weapon damage, firing speed, and other such useful feedback. I aim to create playable, fun, and balanced maps--but to do that I need help from you guys!

By the time you read this, I should hopefully have a server up and running playing this map, entitled 'Randomations Team Games server.'

You need to work on the model, too. If the geometry with the cliff texture on it is supposed to be cliffs, then why is it flat? Plus, those tunnels don't look like a cave even though they have the cave-ish texture. Plus, why is there a non-drivable wrath in the center?

The wraith is just meant to be there as scenery (I found it as i was browsing through stuff from the ripped Truth and reconciliation level). The map is kind of small to be meant for tanks.

About the textures... yeah, i know. I'm a nub at modelling, but practice makes good, right? Hopefully for the next map in my 'Grunttacular Map Pack' I can do better texturing.

server is up and running.

Selentic has some major issues. And he uses 'GTFO' a little bit too much.

Cool map. You got my download. :)

To be honest, its really really bad. Its made almost entirely of boxes, and I see no visual pleasure in there.

Your structures are boxy, the textures are really bland, Its just, really, boring.

That hurts... but, I thank you for your honesty.

I thought gruntsworthy left halo ce.

anyways it's looking good.

nah, i just went afk.... for a really long time...

actually, in all honesty, my previous computer blew chunks, and only recently did i manage to build a decent one; with a radeon x1650 pro graphics card. So now i can finally play halo with no framerate issues (same for when im using 3ds). So, you'll be seeing me around alot more in halo, finally.

BTW, this map is part of a 4-map map pack i've planned. I'm going to start on the beta of the second map, and once i've got all four maps in a beta stage, i'll take the feedback i've accumulated and put it to good use.

Um, and truthfully, the headquarters map is supposed to be 'boxy.' They're not caves, they're actually hallways. Headquarters actually stays pretty true (in shape, at least) to it's predecessor in Conker's Bad Fur Day 'Bunker.'

actually, i find what selentic said true; and he actually gave me some useful critisizm about geometry design.

And no offense, but making a post about nothing but his ability to stay on topic, is um...

ironic.

my statement about Selentic wasn't necessarily pertaining to this topic. its more of a general statement. but i do see the irony.

I do agree, but most of the time its a newer person who doesn't know how to take criticism that well. in this case though he knows how to, so its not so bad. I think you should go just a bit easier on newer people until they get their grounding. i do post at h2v and i agree that although harhs, their crit will help eventually.

In the final version i'm going to completely retexture it, and modify it a bit so it will be using the textures from the Pillar of Autumn's interior.
