In sapien go to netgame flags (I believe) and select teleporter, for a ladder you add it into the bsp as a texture.

In Gmax/3ds Max, you would just name the material as being the texture name and then the "^" symbol. For example: "ladder_bitmap^". When compiled, Halo recognizes that ^ symbol as being a climbable surface.

When you name the material add "^" to it.
