OpsY is now the final judge. Judge positions locked, and we need competitors! Besides, you have a pretty long time to work on it. Oh and, try not to make your Cutscene longer than 10 minutes...

Imo the longer the better( as long as there is content) but i think that the contest would need more visibility than only halomaps. HBO held a similar contest couple months ago... it was really nice. I wish someone made a full tutorial on how to make the,( either with 3ds rendering or engine)

I'm good at making cutscenes with AI, but seeing as my damn 3DS Max 7 broke, I'm stuck using AI. <_<

i would rethink the list of judges , and make it more suitable

I did not specify that it had to be HDoan i gave you a list of 3 people that have more common sense than atleast 30% of these forums , and know what sense is , aswell as the process of mapping and creating things related to CE content , rather than picking people who claim to be doing great models but have nothing to show as far as ingame content , which means nothing in a community that runs entirely on the community having things ingame.

Even so , it was your choice , and you kept it , which is fine by me , i just believe , and know for a fact that your defination of "whine" is wrong , please look it up in a dictionary to see what it really means , and i am sure you will find that my post was far from it , i was merely pointing out a flaw in the judges , which in this case will lead to the final verdict from the judges being flawed anyway.

As for no one else posting to get the positions , maybe that tells you something about this idea in the first place ... heres what i believe from that reaction.

1: No one gives a toss about this idea
2: No one has the time
3: No one wants to waste the time
4: People are doing other things that require their attention rather than a small unofficial thread that gives them the reward if they win of a small spot in a video compilation , which may or may not ever be made.

And that is why this thread was flawed from the start.

Actually, Kiwi did post earlier in the topic, he just didn't ask to be a judge because he doesn't think of himself as a good judge for camera angles and such.



This doesn't seem like a good standard for judging cutscenes. First off, textures could easily fall under environment. The grading seems more concerned with how it is filmed and the surroundings rather then what it is about. You do not reward a good story or good timing, for example, does the character's words match up with his actions? Or does he threaten to shoot someone and doesn't aim at them 'till 5 seconds later?

Here is a good one one of my team's members thought of:

Good things:
Good Camera Movement (Up to 10 Points)
Environment (Up to 10 Points)
Interesting Storyline (Up to 8 Points)
Actions sync with character (Up to 10 Points)
Bonus: Custom Dialogue (Up to 2 Points)

Bad things:
No action at all just a long dialogue [Lose 5 Points]
Errors in actions [Lose up to 5 points]

The total is 38 points, but with a bonus to 40.

That's really good, but I still think you need to add environment, or texture quality.
More so, the words sync with what the background shows, or what the background has.

I would add some points for

''Overall feeling''. A cutscene can Technically be good while havingno epic feeling or whatever... besides, if it's illegal to distribute Hacked applications, are all the edited HEK versions, Tools and Sapiens bad? It never happened.
