agreed but you will have to make your own particle system because i couldn't find any snow in any of the halo files!!! go in gorilla go file ,new and particle_system then scroll down to the particle_types and click on add and then tick the boxes you want scroll down to particle_states and click on add, fiddle around with the digits and add a bitmap you must make. if i missed out anything then someone plzz tell me. hope this helped.

uh yeah no you don't.
Just rip a particle system tag from maps like Prime, Hypothermia, or hell even the campaign maps.

do you have to make a plane or anything when modeling it where the particle system needs to be?

not with what I've done. where the particle system is placed is determined by the portal it's in. All of the maps I've made have only one portal, so it snows/rains on the whole entire map.
if you wanted an interior area to be free of weather, you'd portal the interior area and not assign it a particle system.

levels\c40\c40_snow.particle_system

You can use sound scenery at an entrance to smooth the weather transition when you enter/exit weather cover. A waterfall type visual for looking out at snowfall, when your in a cluster that has no snow, would be ftw
