Quote: does this site have viruses? NO!It is technically impossible for working Halo CE maps to contain a virus or Trojan. If the Zip file you downloaded will not open then you most likely did not download the entire file.

Quote: --- Original message by: selentic They put a virus in an image file, who knows what they can do till theyve done it. The Halo CE game engine performs a file checksum of all maps in the \maps folder before the game will start. If there is one byte difference the game will halt with an exception. So a virus CAN NOT be attached to a *.map file and still allow the game to run. Also *.map files do not contain any instructions to allow the game to write data to the hard drive or perform malicious actions other than to halt with an exception. *.map files are NOT executable files and therefore can not run or propagate a virus. On top of all that all our servers run the corporate Server edition of anti-virus software updated every 6 hours and we automaticly scan all files in each ZIP archive when new virus signatures are received. There are no files in our archive with a virus.

Symantec realy bad choice dennis. I hade it once and it caused to many more problems than it was helping. If ur smart you wont download suspicous files in the first place. I can instinctivly tell a virus by a combination of its mane and size judging on what it says it does so i dont need it. its not that bad... it just on my other computer, when you tell it to disable firewall it says it has.... but all applications are still blocked... and even while its enable it blocks all applications :P

Symantec works quite well. I see no reason why it should be deleted from anyones computer.

We use the Symantec Coprorate edition to protect all of our servers and desktops and have never had any issues. Considering it is one of the things that protects my data center I was very dilligent in making the choice of A-V software to use.
