Hi, I'm new here and would like to share something with halomaps community. In fact I'm trying to build MY 1'st map for Halo CE. Through many trials and errors, I'm stacked to something that I'll like to fix. Some textures problem: I've skined a warthog and in sapiens the texture looks nice and sharp, but in game it looks bad, if they are too small in resolution and blury. Here are some screenshots of my map:     screenshot for the texture in Sapien:  screenshot for the texture in Game after compile: All other textures, the clifs ect tend to be a litle blury in game.  I want all my textures to look like in Sapien. Is there amy way to fix this, or am I missing any step when skining! Edited by goku on Sep 1, 2007 at 06:51 PM

None of those image links work, Goku. Posting images here works different then on most other forums. Try posting code for email, those are just plain direct links. If you want to show the picture here instead of a link try:
[img*]directlinkhere[/img*]

Hi, teh ganon. That text mesage there is nothing. I post a lot of works around CG forums where the copyright is an important element. And for exporting I used the same Photoshop action I've made time ago for other works. Anyway thank you for replying to my post.

The floating roadways look unnatural and amateurish. You really need to model stanchions (support columns) for them.

yes technically its property of bungie but i doubt theyre gonna take your map and put in halo 3 or something. although it would be cool if they had a contest for the best 10 custom multiplayer maps and made like a custom halo map multiplayer only game. that would be interesting. but it would never happen.

Hi guys, I'm back again. I've been very bussy at work and not well because of an influenca. But now I'm fine. It's been a couple of days now that my frends and I play my new map at work. There is a lot of fan there, but it's not finished yet.
Hi Dennis: Yes I know it may look unnatural roadway without the columns, but I wanted to test the 3d mesh at that stage and I'm happy it worked (this is my first map). I'll be hapy to build the columns, but I'm afraid it would be too heavy at the end. Just want to inform that only at this stage it's 71MB .map file. I model it using the minimum polygons posible to make it lighter in game. Is there a way or technique to optimize it further, to make it smaller in size? There are a lot of maps in HaloCE that are biger than mine and they are just 12-16MB. My map has the Bloodgoulch proportions. Any way to optimize it?
Hi Tarzan: I don't think the road needs banking through the turns, because I've tested the turns with full speed + some nice drifting and I ensure you can stay on the road after any turn if you can drive well. I think a little bit of risk at the turns make it more exiting!

Hi tripl3x and thanks for the sugestions. If I'll find how to compile the map, so it can be lighter that's now, maybe I can continue modeling it further. The maps that are shared here are 16-20MB, while mine is 71MB. I have to find the way to compile it in more lighter way, maybe there is a step I'm missing!
