Does this map make anyone else want to crap themselves in awe of the spectacular detail? I cant even begin to imagine how difficult it was to UWV the map and model certail aspects of it. Major kudos to crowpath.

i guess the lesson here is when you spend more time on a map the better it comes out. like coldsnap took 6 months to do, yoyorast island was around a year, and church was 2 years.

yea i think my computer is just being slow, as halomaps normally lets me download at fast speeds.

Since 2:00pm today we have been averaging between 90-150 people simultaneously downloading. Download speeds are reduced do to this. Everyone has to share.

So I canceled it and downloaded Tactics.

Yes it is correct and if anything actually lower than the full count depending on when you re-fresh the page and when the last person started a download.

The file servers are pumping out over 36Mbit/s (equiv 24 T-1 lines) on a continous basis since 2:00pm today.

Not only there are many people downloading, but church is a big file because of the detail.

Church is great but i have to brighten my screen cause it's too dark otherwise. I am mostly amazed at the weapon placement, i love it. The entire map is awesome, i love the small hallways.

The map is very well portaled and renders only the segements that are visible. This map was always destented to push the limits of the game engine to see how much detail could be rendered in game and still be playable.

What is important here is your video card. The read-me and notes clearly state that "probably need a 6800 / X800 and an equally decent processor. Almost all of the map file is textures, so if you have an old 64MB gfx card or lower, you may need to turn down the texture quality." it was designed to be as high in detail as the game can render and is not for people with low end cards that Halo will just barely support.

This map is and example of what map designers should be striving to achieve and is an example of quality over quantity or map size.


*edit: I just noticed Crowpath's response and like he said he knows what he is doing when it comes to Halo CE maps.

lol i got a $70 canadian ATI card and my settings r on high, the game does not lag for me and looks sweet as hell!!

I have a crapy graphics card and it ran fine.

I might have a crappyer one then you, because on high, it freezes for like 5 seconds at some parts.
I asked is it lag or my sucky compy? And they said my computer.

set it to 600 by 800 on your main computer and in game
