All maps default save to a file when you hit a checkpoint, when a map is loaded again with the same difficulty setting it just resumes. the UUI makes this painlessly easy of course.

I feel okay saying at we do not need to work on A10 or A50 much at all. They're for the most part done, A30 and B40 still need some significant work done. although, thats not to say that those 4 maps are the only thing for SPV3 that's being toyed with...

Wait waa uggh god already toying with d20 and love the screen shot i think the flood fog could be reduced a bit and could you guys add like another area which is dark with floods who scare the crap out of you because the only thing you have is a flashlight. The objective would be to get the backup generators working because the floods took out the main one.

Well... what do you expect to see for the Keyes level hallways..? Or what would you find satisfying. New textures for the covie ship interiors is something planned, but isn't something we're doing just for D20.

I was just kinda poking fun at you guys. But yeah. Why show the level if it doesn't have much of anything on it? It would be better just to say that you guys are now working on the flood levels. I wasn't under the impression that you were insulting the project or anything, I am asking what you envision us being able to do for the interior of D20. All I did was show a hallway with the new mood and atmosphere, is it some slight little changes? Yes, but IMO it sets a whole new mood for the level, which is something we try to do with all the levels and their environments.
There is not all that much you can do with a hallway, which is why I am curious to know what you would find satisfying for it.

I think some of us were expecting new covenant textures to be in place for the covenant ship levels. Do you guys have a plan worked out for what kind of aesthetic you are going to strive toward for the covenant interiors? Are you going to go for a sorta up-res'd version of the default texture design, or maybe something a little more akin to high charity in the later games? Or are you going to bring something fresh to the table?

We actually at one point did have it high charity themed, I think back in the V2 days but people disliked it, I was thinking of going for a Reach like look. Does anyone know actually if there is still a way to take screenshots in reach and put them on the computer?

Would it be possible to make the fog thicker in the distance rather than equal fog everywhere (basically make the fog take after Silent Hill 2). Also make shadows and light more contrasted, few light sources that contrast against shadows. If you can, add blood decals in places where it could fit (Dead Space is a good example of horror lighting and how to handle blood splatters without over doing it).

I noticed a bit of flood-modification on the walls. Will it increase in density as you progress?
That would be pretty nice if once you got in the ship the second time, the flood biomass would cover the walls more and more until you got to Keyes' chamber, which would be totally covered.
Also, the fog is a bit thick (though I like it).

Yeah, we're keeping that idea of it massing intelligence and creating a central think tank, but we don't want to do something where it is a character or allude to there being a character of the gravemind. I don't want to get to into it, as it'll ruin some of what we have planned for later.

Especially the flood origin stories towards the bottom of the article from when halo was still an unnamed RTS. And the part where the ESRB immediately demanded a Mature rating immediately after seeing stills of the flood. And while we're on the subject of flood, I'd like to just throw an early request out there. Make the flood much more gruesome and horrific. I'd love to see a more gory, gnarled, nasty version of the flood. Something that rivals modern horror games and flicks in it's level of nasty and disturbing. I'm not gonna throw out an actual design scheme for it cause I don't wanna tell your artists how to their jobs, and because most of us probably have good ideas on how they would design the flood today if they had the chance.
