im excited for this I've been a CMT fan since the H2_Maps Wait another 6 days. Don't expect any announcements 'til then, because the 24th's the release date. Besides, you don't need any new announcements when the release date's only a little less than a week away. ;)

Will anyone think that CMT SPv3 will be the best mod for Halo CE in history? Cuz SPv3 looks dang right sexy.

Quote: --- Original message by: Tiel I'd really like to see everyone start using OS, including TM. Push Halo into new graphical standards. That happening depends on someone else not on TM, working on something that would benefit the entire community's OS experience while providing a great foundation for those interested in working with OS. To that person I say: wink wink, get the lead out! :p

I'd just like to say that OS looks beautiful. Well, CMT SPV3 Looks beautiful. Even though I know that OS opens up a lot of new gameplay options to modders (sorry, I don't really understand this fully) for me as just a gamer the new visuals are stunning and are such a huge leap forward. Really something else.

Will SPv3 be compatible for non-OS users, or is it only compatible with OS v3? i only ask because i haven't gotten OS working and still want to get the release of SPv3, but only if i can actually play it.

You don't have to have OS, but some features won't be playable. All you would have needed to do to learn this is read the OP :P

Well i did, but i remembered hearing somewhere that maps made with OS v3 weren't compatible with non-OS halo engines and i figured that that was the version CMT was using so, i figured i'd ask just in case.

You probably read the part in which opening maps with default Sapien no longer works once you have OS'ified your project. Loading the map ingame supposedly should work though.

Three more days and it will be out. CMT spv3 a50. And with OS inplanted into it, who knows what crazy things CMT has in store for us. Well, besides the things that they've already announced. I'm waiting. I just hope that you actually have to use that nightvision (or infrared like in spv2) scope unlike in the original campaign when it's clearly visible outside and you're basically sniping in a close quarters out door enviornment. I believe that that would be pretty cool.

No, but I will gladly tease you with this picture of our just-finished redone BSP for the exterior (courtesy of the generous and diligent SlappyThePirate) and custom high-res lightmaps (courtesy of the generous and diligent Siliconmaster): Featuring dynamic reflections on the ice! (And just to show what a long way we've come over the last few months...) Also our new Battle Rifle is in thanks to the hard work of BobtheGreatII and Dano: (Shaders subject to change; the scope and ammunition counter have already been re-tinted to match each other and their overall color may be changing over the next 24 hours.) I can't wait to see the gameplay.
After playing Skyrim, getting loads of texture mods, and setting graphics settings to ABOVE ULTRA with almost 60fps, I'm still really unhappy with the gameplay.
So basically, I'm leaving graphics and starting to prefer gameplay a lot more.
Need firsthand play experience to judge gameplay so can't wait 'til tomorrow :)
P.S. Yes, you win Lodex. Gameplay's more important.

I've also heard that Dano may be delivering a last-minute update to some textures...

And yes, they can melee.

At maximum compression the archive files with the maps (both the OS version and backwards-compatible version) are in the range of 160-180MB. The map files themselves are ~400mb and ~380mb respectively. Most of this comes from bitmaps and sounds; bitmaps make up ~50% of our map size with sounds as another ~30%.
