Unfortunatley Thunda, Lodeman is right. Alot of the things in the HUD are simply cluttering and get in the way of a fairly simple and straight forward HUD. You want this thing to be open, the player has to stare at it 24/7 and also has to be able see very clearly.

Way too much page space on an argument about something that's not getting anywhere. Trying to tell Thunda over and over again that he's "got to take crit"/"unprofessional attitude". Trying to get him to start over on a "non-cluttered" HUD. Little feedback on specifics, only a general criticism. Bad bad.

There's something about the Thick black cross that make it look annoying to use, like it's obscuring the players view just a little bit too much.

Also the numbers and letters seem to be too big, the original text was tiny, but was still easily visible.

Other than those 2 things it looks amazing.

The numbers are same size as the HUD numbers. I'm going to fix the the scopes and visor in a bit, but for now here's a change that hopefully, looks better to you guys. And if you are sorta blind, its the health/shield area.

If you ask me, the health/shield meter should be lowered a little on the hud, then made slightly larger and abit longer (mainly the shield should be longer imo)

considering the shield and health meter is the most important part of a hud, I tink it should be more noticable

I wasnt one of the ones who said they were too prominent, I like to feel like I'm wearing a helmet with a visor and see the hud, if I personally hate huds where everything is subtle, which is why I never use things like this: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3222

I've got a suggestion. Since people are saying the shield is too subtle, maybe you could make it bigger? Not so that it's practically punching people in the face, but noticeable yet un-noticeable. If you get my drift.

seriously? realize who's on who's side before you start throwing crap like this around. NEVER ONCE did I say I didn't like the hud as it was before, honestly wtf dude? I'm obviously not with the others who wanted all that gone, because apparently everyone wants hud to be invisible, which is absolutely ridiculous for halo if you want my honest opinion.

that's why you take crit and decide for YOURSELVES what you should do, NEVER listen to anyone else completely on how to do something, which is obviously what chocolate just did, and look what happened, you've got a smurf hud.

I have a few things to say to both Choclate and Updates.

Choclate, nice lookign hud, evidently you put a lot of work into that. Keep up the good work...and remember, haters gonna hate.

Updates, sorry to be saying this, but the way you say all these things is making it look like you simply want to make CMT look bad so Lumoria can come out on top. I've got nothign against Lumoria, and I like both projects. However, leave your crit to yourself if its not constructive. Whatever you say, its not constructive.

I tip my hat randomly because I am wearing a tophat and feel like it.

Now, Choclate, go make some more Huds

Updates, go make some more Lumorias.

I recommend having the Health bar and the symbols(ammo, weapon, grenade etc. more opaque. That transparent and it'll be a bit ahrd to see while playing.

The hell are you talking about kid. I respond the same to any projects I comment on. This so called argument was one I tried to keep private as well. Your beloved Choco was the one who made a big deal out of it to make ME look bad, NOT the other way around. You are also dumb for purposely trying to get these arguments heated again.

As for the newer HUD: looking better although I still don't find the health icon to be necesarry.
The jagged lines on the side are still an eye-sore to me although the idea behind it is nice, without AA it would simply become a pain to look at during a campaign.

And I agree with whoever said some of the icons text/font could be smaller, it does stand out quite alot.

And LoS...no, I am not saying this to make anybody look bad. I'd post nasty xfire chatlogs if I wanted to do that >_>

My honest opinion. I love the subtle accents on the crosshair, the motion-tracker looks perfect like it is, the ammo and grenade stations need to be just a hair more visible.

As for the shield monitor, again this is only my opinion, i think that you should make it a tad longer. On this picture, full screen, i'd say make it about a half inch longer on each side.

Make it dip in a little in the middle, because the ammo and grenade stations are bent a little i think you should continue that on and make it look a little more rounded to the helmets shape.

And make the health monitor longer with the shield monitor so it compensates for the change . Then move it up a little so where the bottom of the point on each side is is where the line of the shield meter should meet it, like right now you have it so the points meet that line at the top of the point, i think, it should be at the bottom of them, instead.

I think this would make the hud a little more satisfying to peoples eyes and a little more smoothed, and also a little more compact and less distracting. Again just my opinions, take 'em or leave 'em

I shooped this... just to see what it would look like.
But it seems we're already decided on the health bar and such, which is fine.

Looks great now, the visor's a lot less noticeable(though I still think having a visor outline is pointless anyway) and the transparency works quite well imo.
Only complaint I have is that you should make the symbols less transparent(The health symbol, the helmet, numbers, etc.) but keep the bars as transparent as they are now.

Think of my opinion however you wish. :)

I completely disagree about the visor being pointless, it gives the feeling that you're actually looking through a helmet. and also I agree with one of the above posts that said the hud was a lil too transparent, it might give me eye problems trying to focus on the meter and not whats behind it.

That's a cool idea you got there, although I just can't get over how a lack of AA will end up making it an eye-sore when playing an entire mission. I fear these kind of designs would work better in a modern engine that supports AA.

It's not an outline of a helmet. If you look on the helmet you'll see a shape engraved on the visor, this is to help shift the light out of the eyes of the person wearing it. that is what the outline on the screen is supposed to be of.

In other news. I messed with the hud a little to show you guys what it would look like with the changes i suggested. The results, well see for yourself :)

Also added a glow for visual effects and such, let me know what you think.

We can't curve the center panel, if we did then it would be curved when you are in 3p view and not playing from your visor perspective.
