Lol, it's pretty basic with tons of primitive objects like circles, that's all, anyone can do that.

Anyone? Really? You and quite a lot of other modders might be able to, but most newbies couldn't even make the aerial.

(This does not include me. I'm just too lazy when I do have free time, and too busy when I don't have free time. :P)

I know at least 10 people who visit here often that can sub-d model very well.
They are at least comparable and probly better, but thats not anything to do with you, so lets not start a fight about someone who never asked you to talk for him, k?

tnx slayer but its aight, ever since i was redhaze(my other account that died, poor file :C) iv been flamed/told i suk. but i used to suk, dont know if anyone remembers my crud from b4 but i think iv improved. and slayer tnx for support but maniac is right, i dont want a war to start here, as we all know how easy those damn thigns erupt. ill might texture might not, working on 2 new models. will show when i got some progress, haven't been modeling too much lately due to work and school. and marty, i actually "admire" some of ur models, but from what i can tell,ur one of those ppl that compares themselves, and because i cant do something, or dont do enough detail or use the "wrong" technique, i am inferior/crappy/amateurish. hey we all gotta start somewhere. hel my first model was a shotgun(opr at least i think it was lol) we all gotta start somewhere. i started maybe 5 years ago, and could only model maybe an hour a day cause of school. that didn't leave alot of time for practice. if u dont liek my stuff just dont comment on it k? unless u got some sort of constructive crit(and i dont mean that suks start over, or similar terms) dont post. just let it be. so lets move on, lets see some more wip's guys :P

I know what you mean but please dont say "you guys" because that makes me think you are talking about me directly, i never said anything about anything.

When some people post crit here, yes it can be taken wrong and can be posted in a mannor that is unbecoming.
Just remember, this is a halo moding forum, not a graphic arts or 3d modeling forum.

Walrus v.2

The Walrus is a vehicle similar to the warthog. It is 150% as long as the standard warthog model, featuring 2 sets of treads for the back and 2 skis for the front. It also has a pelican-type thrust engine attached to the bottom. The vehicle has 5 seats total:
1 driver, 1 shielded passenger (no weapons), 2 exterior side seats, and 1 gunner.

This vehicle is designed for big team battles in large, outdoor snow/ice maps

Status: Rocket boost is as close as I can get to a working boost mechanism; works similarly to tiamat's tachikoma's boost. I may or may not keep it, depends if I can stabilize the vehicle more or not.

The physics model is accurate, however, as I feared, the vehicle is unstable, flipping easily due to the fact that the skis are spaced too closely together. This creates the same kind of instability often observed in tri-cars. I attempted to alleviate this problem by introducing a lean element in the vehicle during turning ( attached the wheel mass markers to the wheel frames). However, this didn't work. I plan to solve this by designing the front skis similarly to those used in snowmobiles.

I plan to eventually design a missile pod/chaingun combo turret. If anyone wants to help out with this design, please do.

Skinning needs to be redone, but I'll save that until last, at least until I finish fixing the skis.

lol false.

Aside from the mass amounts of basic shapes. if you want to go for a good convincing high poly look add some armor plating under those bolts. it will definitely give it a better appeal. and don't make them all uniform, over lap some, have some bigger than others, add small compartments, etc. little details like this can really help a normal map.

!!!important to anyone doing high poly work sub-d or not!!!
any thing you want to be in a normal map the edges can NOT be straight up and down or the normal map WILL NOT pick them up. the edges of the details need to taper off so the rays can see they have depth.

The concept is of a country style warefare truck, so when its done, I will have an interior in it (check the HS thread), and a turret on the back

My Redneck Police Truck as Cody nicknames it haha, BUDGET CUTS FROM THE GOVERNMENT!! = fail =P

meh none of you guys know Redneck. From a real Rednecks point of view

You need a jacked up truck maybe a 4 inch lift kit under that thing w/ some 41' inch tires w/ some rust and mud on that thing. then you got your self a pick up truck.

Hell I pass a auto dealer with a 89 Chevy suburban jacked up on a 5 inch [maybe higher] lift kit every day of when I take the bus home. It looks like a D*** Monster truck.....and it's Pea figgin' green but is still redneck!

Deal, get on that tonight or tomorrow latest =)
Just need to make some quick textures and model a few rust holes.
A 2" lift with 30 size mudders should do it though.

Yall don't know what redneck is (facepalm)

Add some mud and rust then you got an actual redneck truck, not some high school FFA member truck.

I like the snowmobile hog, still a bit rugged tho, I feel some proportions are off. It should only have driver and gunner, by the current look. Still, I hope to see this released someday, I could very well find uses for such vehicle^_^

widened the side-seat region by 0.05 world units (both sides). Missile pod "attachment"* added.
Physics have been completely redone and have vastly improved; normal driving will not flip the walrus. Boosting, however, increases instability.
Also, the skis no longer impale themselves into the ground (warthog no longer gets jammed into the ground at 45 degrees :P)

Many more animations have been added.

Still working on:

* how to apply vertex weights to the chain belt ammo geometry
* better skin for the missile pod
* need to multi-res the missile pod (missile pod alone originally increased the file size by 66%)
* smaller, more realistic explosion for the missile pod
* reticle and other gui features for the turret
* fix the blurred tread model
* more importantly, need to reskin the walrus (hull)
* make some adjustments on the "boost" marker (due to the updated physics tag)
* improve the suspension properties

If anyone can help me out on some of these things, I'd appreciate it.

Here are some screenshots from my last game:

*In concept, it is a chaingun with a missile pod attachment. Any missile pod off the battlefield will do, as long as it is removed from its tripod. Due to its length and weight, the pod is fixed. being unable to rotate up or down. However, this doesn't prove to be an issue as the tripod it is normally fixed to also prevents up and down rotation; meaning, its homing capabilities will be able to compensate for this restriction. Conceptually, the missile turret will be ideal for long range combat (somewhat), but is mostly effective against aircraft. Usage of both the chaingun and missile pod are critical (unlike the h1 scorpion's secondary fire)
