Real armor does cover everything.
Or close to everything
Look at medieval knight armor.

...you were saying?

Thanks.

that's two different types of protection though

one was optimized to protect from close range slashes and bludgeoning

the other for med-long range pinpoint penetration

todays modern armor is much more practical
1) lighter/more flexibility
2) reduces heat profile
3) quiet
4) armor where it is needed, concentrated armor, rather than a thin shell

Design is perfect for Promethean Knight blade slashes.
It's 26th century.
It's not that hard to believe that humans have a found a way to combine the best of both designs.

A la MC, but until this point, the majority if weapons have been projectile based, and the only thing that can deflect energy swords are energy shielding.

retooling armor for an enemy that they encountered days beforehand is not practical, when combined with research, testing, and deployment.

Fix those markers! You can get them aligned perfectly if you import your weapon and align it to hand marker, link constrain the gun to the marker, then rotate the marker till it looks right, when your done delete the weapon and re-export. And btw those legs won't get much better due to how the stock marines are posed... they do the same with the chief, to this day i still don't get it :L

It's always frustrating trying to get the marker right, but I never thought about importing a weapon. Thanks, I'll try it later today.

Get some glasses, the way bungie posed the bipeds transforms the legs terribly.

Exactly. A SWAT Team would not cover every single square yoctometre of their body with kevlar, because that would be hella ugly, hella heavy, and hella inflexible.

Medieval Knight armor was perfect for it's use, which was to basically be a tank: invulnerable to normal weapons like swords and daggers, and pretty good for maces. The way they fought was not that agile, it was basically bludgeon the enemy till he either converts to christianity, or becomes tomato soup. Modern warfare (and probably future warfare) is, if you stay still, you will die. Move and survive. Except for Hunters.

Being fully armored does not affect a Spartan's speed.
They are faster than most humans, with or without armor.
A Spartan is basically an agile tank.

Thus, combining the best of both forms of protection.
Speed.strength and durability (and excellent protection for most parts of the body).

Yeah, but Spartans also have to be flexible. While the Mark VI, my favorite, was made in a way that a spartan should be able to twist and flex a lot, but the Mark VII makes him a lot more agile, flexible, and fast; being able to sprint would represent that. In Halo 4, in the cutscenes, the Master Chief is just so much faster and agile.

Anyway, Mark VII is admittedly more tank than VI. I don't know why, but it is a tank.

Master Chief is animated using mo-cap,thus the animation are more fluid and seem more agile and fast.

His armor is still a Mark VI,but it has all those fancy Cortana upgrades.
I call it the Mark 6.5

and the lore states that there is a gel layer that enhances movement 5 times or something, so armor weight doesn't factor all that much.

that and it's powered armor, which means assisted movement

Halsey's journal stated that when a normal person tired to use one, the suit amplified his movement so much that he ended up liquefying himself.

As you can see,the amount of protection does not affect a Spartan that much.

Therefore,it's acceptable and reasonable for them to wear more armor than most people do.

Speed, mobility and agility are not hampered by the "extra" armor pieces.

In fact, the armor gives them even more speed and agility (I can not say the same for mobility).

Incorrect.

They weigh around half a ton (more or less, depending on body weight).

As for the walking on tendrils thing...
Most likely only possible for gameplay. As for cutscenes and whatnot, the tendrils are possibly stronger than they seem

Has anyone made anything from the Mac World 1999 Halo Demo? It would be interesting to see how close we can get an accurate copy of the game from that era.

Not exactly worth the time to wait for GIMP/Photoshop to load.
