If he didn't undergo constant abuse like this and was given a little more space, I think you would reconsider that statement. Cheddars may not have made loads of custom content like you people expect him to, but so what? It's like making counterfeit money. The real deal is better than a remake. I've seen very few entirely custom ideas that are actually decent, and few have decent texturing. There will never be something entirely custom on this site.

In reference to the metaphor I stated earlier, yes. Not that I'm against recreation, but there's really no point in making a copy of something that's already available in good standards. Do you really think people are better than Bungie? The only time I will ever make custom models is with custom ideas. For unoriginal ideas, it's fine and dandy to rip. It produces better quality. Save recreation for custom stuff. Save legit resources for unoriginal stuff.

Cheddars is just using his initiative, not being pointless, e.g. he is the opposite of an idiot. I am against extensive ripping, but what Cheddars does is fine. He still does custom stuff on the sidelines.

Ripping is only wrong if you asked permission and the creator said no to usage.

Otherwise, it's fair game. If it's released into the engine, then it's fair game because you don't own it anymore. It's Microsoft's. That's legally speaking. Morally speaking, as long as you give credit, then it's alright. Once again, if you asked the makers of the content and they said no, then forget it.

LOL, it's not pirating if the original product/asset had no market price on it. Therefore it would be just re-distribution of a modified product. Nothing illegal, as long as no money is made.

But seriously. I guess im announcong it to the public here. My friend "StealthSP2 (aka) ►ï²nvî§íΩⁿ◄ , is a very skilled modeler. He and I have teamed up to model most, if not all of the reach weapons and get them ingame.
He is doing a plasma rifle, i did the plasma pistol. I will be naimating and ingameing (i might just rig some to h3 or h1 anims if i feel like it, at least temoprarily. YES, this wil be publicly released when we finish. And how do i know we will finish?
Because we didnt start out at halomaps, the land of failing underachievers andglorified douches, (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE :D)
but yeah, i finished the plasma pistols model (More or less, except for textures, a few flipped faces, and animations.)

I'm not sure that, thats the H:Reach one, but still.

The Plasma Pistol need to be more slender on its edges and the Plasma Rifle needs to have some extraneous details removed, mainly the curvatures on its side where the Overheating Holo-Gauge is supposed to be. That's done via shader and other technical stuff and can really save you regarding polygons. Otherwise, they both look like great starts!
