That thumb is difficult to make right, I've spent atleast 30 minutes trying to make it look right and it still doesn't look right. The texture isn't really a texture, it's just a lazy ray traced material that you saw on my Mk23 and Famas (the overall shape of the ball made it look the way you see it). I didn't wanna bother getting the real ball textures. The left hand still looks like ass, but it's not too bad IMO.

Yeah I'm using beta arms, and the hand texture does kinda bother me, but I don't know what hand rig skidrow is gonna use, so I'm just sticking with familiar territory. The only other arm rigs I have are either untextured, alien arms, or are in .gbxmodel format (except for CSS arm rig, which I'm really sick of right now)

You really should get out of using the beta arms since the thumb is rigged poorly and does not transfer well to other rigs. Everything else mainly works alright though with the exception of CMT's arms not always working right.
Name the other rigs you have, chances are I have the skins for them.

Oh wow, I didn't remember how bad people's animations looked when animated on h3 beta rig, and using a different rig.

I don't see what's wrong with .gbxmodels, just get an importer and import them into Max. Make sure you click "nodes as bones" and set the radius to 1.0.
Also I have skins for all of those except the Halo 3 Elite but I could probably get them from Spartan-094 quite easily.

It's just that I don't like having to browse around everywhere (I can never remember where I keep my scripts) finding my importer, then having to browse back to my tags folder or wherever I have the rigs.
Besides, I always only need the H3 beta rig (already in .max) and the CSS rig (again in .max)
And yes Gamma, I know about brokes animations :P.

Hmmm, I should set up all the rigs I have for easy opening/using and release that just so it's much more accessible for everyone.
Yeah, I'll try to get working on that this weekend as well as finally finishing my touch-ups to the ODST weapon animations >_>

1337, the grip on it needs work. It's quite unattractive and is quite huge. You should fix that before animating it. Also, you might want to import some FP arms, just to get your model to the perfect scale. That would seriously help yourself and others. Other than that, it's not bad at all; another model I could never model >_> I should consider posting some of my models wip, heh. Make it a bullpup and get rid of that silencer and me love you love time.

You would not be able to hold that bolt action sniper unless you had extremely abnormally large hands. Fix that and I think you should round the wood out more. It's rather boxxy at the moment.

no.....look at this for reference: even if the gun stays short, redo teh stock and fore-grip. they are absolutely horrible. imagine trying to hold that gun? unless u had a hand that was 3x longer then normal it be impossible

That semi circle on the stock is just for looks. If you have like an almost perfect rectangle speaker, hold it like your holding the trigger grip area and dont wrap your thumb around. It just sits on the side.

you should make it look lighter... and it might just be me but ive always found wood on guns to be kinda dum.. generally just add more details to it and it might start looking more realistic.. and better..

It's just a basic bolt action hunting rifle. I'm not going for some tactical army rifle. What you see is what it's supposed to look like. Besides changing the grip and all that.

Go for making the handle like you saw on that gun, or just make it a basic pistol grip. It will look sooo much better that way, and when you're animating it, you can see the thumb.
Newsflash: Not being able to see your thumb IS A BAD THING.
