...what if we don't like it or want it? Proportions look slightly... unproportional, if you will. For example, the silencer is far larger than the scope, and there's very little room if any between the clip and the trigger. The bipod is oversized, and the stock is undersized. Compare your proportions to this:

Compare your proportions to this: The scope on there is HUGE and it looks weird. The silencer is huge for a reason. It is to make it as quiet as possible. And the bipod is also big for a reason. To absorb the recoil. also it is not meant to be a light-fifty -Skipdrow

skid, sorry but its ok but no...just no...scope is a midget...like something ud find on a paintball gun or bbgun....silencer is a tad short(or it may eb cause of angle) bipid doesn't absorb the recoil, teh compensator and u do....comon man. the bipod is only meant to steady urself while prone for long times. its liek using sandbags but u dont gotta lug one around. whats with taht can at the bottom, it doesn't even look connected to anything, put some wires or cables... so class lets review:
scope is a midget silencer seems a tad short bipod doesn't need ot be that long, just makes aiming a living hell while prone that spray can doesn't seem to be attached to or with anything, give it some brackets, cables, hoses w/e.... dont just slap it on there....lol
btw the scope s huge cause its a goddamn fifty...(where the hell u ge the idea of a "light" fifty, no such goddamn thing man....) have u ever seen a real barret, or large caliber rifle? teh scopes are huge for a large zooming factor(wat is it like 10x or something) for 1mile kills or so(max effective for the barret is 1.5, or at least thats the best any one has gotten). b4 u try to refute things about real guns check ur facts. if ur doing a custom model, dont make it look like the real thing, ur just gonna get shut down...
jsut looked at the poly count...really dude? realy? 199k? alot of that detail is useless the air cooler holes on teh barrel is pointless, the fire rate isnt high enough to heat up that it needs a cooler. the bipods can be lowered in poly count or even use alphas for it. Doesn't look that great, plus if I could work with 199k I'd have 199x the detail, I can remodel that with like 2k polies.

why is it 199k triangles? it should at most be around 10,000 but even that's pushing it. and you can't even play that off as a high poly because it clearly demonstrates you have no idea what the proper work flow is and over purpose of a high poly. also i can't even tell what's going on, you have like half the receiver intersecting with itself and for christ's sake at least learn how to do a decent render so i can at least attempt to see what you're making. (see: http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9328 ) don't like don't want try again

-Skipdrow No, we do not want... its like 200,000 Triangles. That will lag like crazy in Halo. Are you retarded. And why are you being big headed like that? It is crap... did you even make it because I can see my SMG inside the Sniper... so you have used the grips from it and the silencer :/ Edited by anonymous_2009 on May 27, 2010 at 05:21 AM

-Skipdrow Your front grip is also clipping the holes in the gun (I can see it through the wholes instead of just a nice looking interior to a hole >_>) The bipod IS too big, there's no reason to make it big so it can 'absorb more recoil.' It also looks like it gets in the way of any animator trying to animate the fudgin' thing. Why is the handle an SMG handle? That doesn't fit in at all. What's up with the second magazine in there too which can't be a shotgun one because there's no shotgun (seriously, just get rid of it+that ugly front grip).

Edited by Geared on May 26, 2010 at 07:42 PM Edited by Geared on May 26, 2010 at 07:46 PM The Barrett is considered a light fifty cause it is not as heavy as for example the XM500 which is at least 10 lbs more. This weapon is NOT supposed to be a Barrett 50 BMG sniper rifle. It has a lot of polys and tris cause I had some high poly stuff in use with it. There are 2 mags cause there is an integral SMG with an integral silencer (THATS THE CYLENDEWR ON THE BOTTOM). I will admit the Fore grip is a bit to close to the main mag. And the scope doesn't need to be HUGE to get a nice zoom level. In short I can make it do what I want Also that is a W.I.P.!!! It doesn't have to be PERFECT! And yes I do know what I am talking about. And yes the Bipod IS for recoil compensation. Like it or not it is true. I'll fix it up a bit and then post some more pics. Think I covered everything. -Skipdrow Edited by Skidrow925 on May 27, 2010 at 01:20 PM

But yes I do know somewhat about real weapons. Even though I have not figured out how tool makes a BSP. And I just remembered that thing on the bottom is supposed to be a shotgun. Also I wasn't planning on useing it for halo. Not that model anyway. That is sort of a base model. And anonymous what makes you think that is your SMG model? Can you be sure? Quote: Maybe if you change your crappy attitude then your stay here might be a little more pleasant. Not likeily to happen. well the ''might be a little more pleasant.'' is not likeily to happen. I have a little fixed up model. WireFrame: Solid: http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/250/solidw.jpgShotgun silencer.Shotgun clip.Shotgun grip.Sniper silencer.Other thingie is the Stock. The Barret .50 weighs approximately 30lbs (empty) with the majority of the weight held in the barrel, it is not meant to be a hand held weapon. The average person can not shoulder this weapon and fire it accurately (not even your average soldier). I do weight training 3 days a week and even I had trouble holding it up. It is no where near a "light fifty". As for the XM500, it weighs approximately 4 pounds less than the Barret...so um...not sure where you're getting this terrible misconceptions from.
The bipod is hardly used for recoil compensation, yes it does aid in that fact but it's primary use is to increase accuracy in a prone position (In the Barret's case, the only practical firing position). You have demonstrated a clear lack of knowledge in the realm of firearms
As for the model, we know it's a WIP which is why we're giving you a critique of it so you can fix it before you waste anymore time on things you shouldn't be doing. For example, no first person model should exceed 11,000 triangles, and even that is kinda pushing it. And that only applies to "next-gen" engines currently on the market. Halo shouldn't really exceed 6,000 otherwise it will hinder other performance. Not to mention you're putting emphasis on details in all the wrong places where the player would never see. If it's not a game model, fine your model still makes no sense what so ever and is a total eyesore

I never said it was a Barret, I was correcting you misconceptions regarding the Barret. I told you what is wrong with your physical model. Too many triangles, wasted details, and it makes no sense, you just have 2 types of guns mushed together, and the way they're thrown together doesn't look appealing, it literally just looks like intersecting meshes Edited by PenGuin1362 on May 27, 2010 at 02:54 PM
