Goddamn those weapons look good! Quite shiny though...is that normal? And one of the few H3 helmet displays true to the original!

I'm new to weapon modeling, I mainly do BSPs - but I spent 35 minutes making this, from some old Halo Wars jackal-creep concept art.

-This is my third ever weapons model from scratch, (2nd using splines)



Started as a spline and developed into a 3D model.

No textures or UVs as of yet, but eh - it's a start.

Credits to...
- Ensemble Studios, for concept art.
- Myself, Hobbet360, for modeling.

Criticism is welcome.

Topology and edge flow is terrible. You also have loads of n-gons.

Look up some plane modelling tutorials and do some hard surface stuff first.

in my very unprofessional opinion:

Generally its a good model, but I feel there are far too many polies used in the barrel and the rest of the gun is rather uninteresting. You clearly have more skills than I do but the sides of the gun are so flat...

Also i would chamfer the bottom of the gun more, like the bottom of the area between the mag and the barrel, its sort of boxy. But i dont know what its based off of, i just think it would make it look better.


Thats just my criticism. Don't feel the need to go by it if its irrelevant.

The AK12 itself is pretty flat from what ive seen.

Don't forget details like the fire selector, small segment of rail on top of the gas block, the bayonet lug, etc. Here's another reference that could be helpful.

the problem with making camo skins is that you need to use a low-noise texture, otherwise the mirrored UVs really stick out and ruin the look.
