They're Christmas lights wrapped around default weapons like in tf2. That's a plasma rifle. Ohgodohgod please be done by the 25th so we can have a community play date.

bahaha that's awesome, are you going to do TF2-style and place a stickytaped battery as the power source for the lights?

I'm a little thrown off by how the front is more rounded and the back is pretty boxier. Is there a concept art/game weapon you're basing this off of that I could look at? Or is this your own neat imagination?

since the hexagons aren't a contributing part of the gun(or attached to one), I think they would look less outlandish as a painted-on symbol rather than geometry.

so i have posted halo 4 ar and br animations a wile back at one point they did not work well so i started to re make them so i only have the br\dmr reloading dun. note i am still working on it so it does not look smooth and might be a little to fast at some parts.

Yeah, definety needs some more work with the fingers moving more and a little bit more movement when reinserting the clip.

i second the need for finger movement, but i have a few others that i would prefer to see in those animations. firstly, i think the right arm(and thus the rifle) need a little more horizontal movement, because the shooter would be more focused on reloading it quickly than holding the rifle perfectly still. secondly, and this is rather opinionated, i think u need to make the movements faster, as this is something the shooter is VERY experienced at, they would be fast and precise, not slow and cautious. additionally, if the reload time needs to stay at that length, u could extend the duration of the hand being off-screen to grab a new mag, and while doing so have the rifle bob and sway a bit. also if you choose to do the second "improvement" it would increase the force and momentum of the movements and thus the rifle would move more when reloaded with the fresh mag. thats all from me, lookin' good.

The grips on the SMG need to be rounded out, in order to better conform to a human hand.

If you can't see the difference in Orth and Perspective then your going to be in trouble when modelling... Watch some tutorials and re-create the model they make in the tutorials before you go about creating your own thing.

Also, post wireframes. As far as I can tell your going to have loads of n-gons based on the geometry I can see. It is also too flat, get the basic shape and THEN add details.

Hey hunter I have just got a quick question for you about baking normals. Did you ever get really bad normal map results from baking in max? I have got a highpoly kabar knife I am trying extract normal maps from. I watched a load of tutorials, so my seams are all where I have different smoothing groups and hard edges on the low poly but for some reason the map just looks so unclean. I'll update this post with pics of course.

@Goldkilla thanks for the +1 on the steam workshop. Dude I some how got 70 rate ups for one of my other camo skins

I'm yet to actually bake some normals, I have done some for afew organic models which turned out fine, but then again there's no had edges on that. I usually use xNormal, seems easier and better than 3ds max's baking, but with that said ive not really looked into it much yet.

ewwww

High Poly:

Ill get a pic of low + high in a sec. I can already see an error on the blade but that shouldn't change the fact that everything else looks disgusting.

If your going for "super high quality ultra realism" on the high-poly, you should add a 4 digit manufacture number and the hilt-pin that holds the handle to the tang.

Wouldn't those bells get flung into the shooters face the second the slide went back to chamber the next round?

It depends on how the user is holding it. The bells would probably hit the user in the chest or chin. Even without the bells, the slide itself would hit the user.

MA4K would be kinda cool. The MA2B, as well, if the barrel was lowered a bit and the oddly-angled magazine replaced by something a bit more conventional. MA4C doesn't look bad, either.

Someone already did an MA2B, like, almost a decade ago. #swag

I'm aware of the existing MA2B, but the quality is pretty low.
