So I decided to open this up and take a look at it. And I had a bit of crit for your next weapon. You'll notice that your hexagon patter is stretched in a lot of areas. Mostly in the area between the top finger and top thumb. Also as it wraps along the top. This has to do with your UV's being stretched. A good thing to practice is unwrapping with a UV checker pattern so that you might find the stretches faster. Also, if you're using pelt mapping on your UV (as it suggests in your textures) don't. Pelt mapping is good for things that are organic, where a little stretching doesn't kill anyone. However, it really doesn't work well with guns and the like. It creates some funky effects. Use peel if you're going to do this, and make sure you break edges that are going to 45 to 90 degrees. You might be able to hide it bellow that, but it's a good rule of thumb. If you are using peel, you might break apart some of the larger chunks, as peel can also distort stuff. Breaking it apart lets the peel work a little easier and better. Your hexagon sizes are different all over the place too. Try to keep the parts that will have a defined shape (eg the hexagons) similar sizes in the UV. This'll help keep that from happening. As for the diffuse. You might consider making your covenant metal white. This is what we do in CMT, and it allows us to change the color to anything we want in game and in our 3D programs. It can be weird to look at, and feel free to throw the purple on there as a placeholder, but it's so much more convenient to work with when you can change it to what you need. As for your normal map, what did you make this in? I could be wrong, but it really looks like it was made in photoshop with the nvidia plugin. It would benefit you greatly to learn how to model high poly weapons (you seem to have the basic idea of low poly modeling down) so that you can create some proper normal maps. No point in working with bad habits. The specular seems decent enough. If I were you I would work on hiding grime, scratches, and other detail in to the specular. This can create some pretty interesting effects with the proper lighting. Your UV maps could certainly be packed tighter. And also you should make sure that the parts closest to the camera are taking up a bit more space than everything else. This will make sure you're getting the best quality at what the player is looking at immediately. As for the design of the weapon itself. It's certainly interesting, but it's very front heavy. And seems kind of awkward to hold. Or at that, looks very fragile near the back. You had a pretty good thickness going all the way until the back, which got very thin. Also I don't know many covenant weapons that use hexagon bolts to hold them together, seems strange to see in an alien weapon ha ha. Over all the weapon is very interesting visually, I think it's pretty neat, and I look forward to what you come up with next.

Heres the grenade animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1NzkY575TE It seems like a good start! Personally, I think there's 2 big things that you could fix, though... 1) The left hand that's throwing the grenade seems to be angled awkwardly. Maybe you could make that arm move more vertically than horizontally? 2) Move the fingers when the left hand is grabbing the bottom of the shotgun. That'd probably make your arm look less like a robot part and more like ...well... an arm. But yeah, it's still a great start? :)

Meh, Flame beat me to it. Figured I should make a random origin for this just cause: (I don't know why I couldn't get all of the hexagonal pattern to display in render, even with supersampling. Also I couldn't get the red>yellow>green to work for the meters for whatever reason/I was lazy. I also don't know if I'll be able to animate this much, if at all. I could put the origin up if someone wants them I suppose).
