UPDATE: The Adjutant Map Pack Public Beta has concluded. If you participated, thank you. If not, well..... you know who you are ;)
I would just like to let y'all know that, due to an ongoing internal investigation, all future beta hosting, public and/or privite, has been suspended until further notice. Go to my site (www.TheMapReader.net) for details.
I will be aware of that. Thanks for the heads up. See you starside, bobby.
Understood. You want me to keep it up for now, or just go ahead and take it down?
Quote: --- Original message by: bobbysoon looks like i'm losing internet soon, so I uploaded immure3beta to halomaps. Host it if you like when you see it. Maybe some fun can be had with it. I'm sorry to hear that! I'll definitly download and look at it.
Quick Update: A server-side system error caused the Adjutant Map Pack Public Beta server to go offline for a little more than an hour Monday (9/12/11) night. The problem has since been resolved and the server is now back online. Due to continuing technical dificulties, TheMapReader.net Public Server remains offline as of 11:30 PM CT/12:30 AM ET.

Yeah, I guess Megaupload didn't sign a contract with Singapore stating that we're allowed to download files that are up to 250GB. It's just so strange that we didn't get any cool privileges on American websites(like being able to watch videos on Funimation)because we're just as internet savvy as Alaska(or was it Russia?). -Zekilk Edited by cyboryxmen on Sep 11, 2011 at 09:30 AM
It's actually 250 MB, not GB (which would be over half of my hard drive space)
Quote: --- Original message by: UBE Chief He's hosting people's maps on a dedicated server (he's using v1.09). Right now, he has my Adjutant Map Pack loaded up onto his server. That's schedueled to come down in about a week from now.
Then he's going to host someone elses' map(s), and so forth.
I think his website is to promote it, or something :x
Actually, it's kind of the opposite... The main purpose of the site is to provide detailed, comprehensive written reports on custom/modified multiplayer maps on HaloMaps.org for you to view for free. You do not have to be a site member in order to view them. The dedicated server is something that I put out there as a way to help promote the site. By offering to host a beta, I'm hoping for an I'll-do-that-if-you'll-do-this kind of deal; I'll host your public/privite beta on a dedicated server, and in return, I would like it if you promoted my site, though you are not obligated to do so. (It would be nice, though :) )
Hope this answers your question, Slayer117.
Two questions (and I will be posting these on www.TheMapReader.net as well): What map/gametype combos would y'all like me to put on our public server for the week of 9/12/11, and which of the following maps would you like me to do an evaluation for this next week? A.) Mystic, B.) Ambush, or C.) Coldsnap (map with the most votes by midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning will get a complete evaluation done and posted on the website by Saturday, September 17th. Please only one vote per post per person)
Just got the game types fixed to where it will cycle trough AoTCR on team slayer, ctf, oddball, then crazy king, the b40-arena on team slayer, ctf, oddball, etc. etc.
And I know what you mean about the ping- I didn't realize playing 'words with friends' could cause me to lag so much... (+700 ping at the highest o.O)
I'll see if I can get a hold of ODST Nick and see if he has anyone that would be interested in participating. I've played on a few of his maps, and he's pretty good, particularly at modding. Edited by The NSSC on Sep 9, 2011 at 09:31 PM
Quote: --- Original message by: UBE Chief Ok, I know that the dedi server is up and running, but NOBODY seems to be on! I suggest a gaming party on the server. All are welcome, no matter the ping.
I'm also planning to create a proper video on the Map Pack while the party's going on, so if you want in on the video, start joining!
What time do you plan to be on? I might be able to join you. (be sure to return the favor and include your time zone, please ;) )
Quote: --- Original message by: UBE Chief Just one other suggestion, for the KoTH gametypes, make them "Crazy KoTH". It makes it more challenging/fun, and I have made multiple areas for the hills, so having that gametype is not an issue.
On it
That problem is most likely on my end and has nothing to do with the maps. Chances are that there may be a bad line in the coding somewhere, or it could most likely be a netork issue. I was in the server earlier today, though, and it went fine. I'll keep it up for now, and if the problem persists, I'll halt the beta and take a closer look at it.
Well, the server is now live! Start downloading and join on in, people!
Server Name: Adjutant Map Pack Public Beta
(as for the free user/paid user thing, what I meant was that free users are given minimum-priority download speeds, wheras paid users get a download speed boost. I don't think I ever said you had to be a paid member to be able to download the map pack. Hope this clears it up. :) )
The Dedicated Server for the "Adjutant" Map Pack Public Beta will go live at 1:30 pm CT/2:30 pm ET. The server will have the same name this topic's title. If you still would like the maps to participate, here is the link: (link removed by request of UBE Chief, the map pack's creator)
The beta will last two weeks (through September 22, 2011). Please participate and give feedback. You may use this forum for just that purpose and ONLY that purpose.
Again, this is a PUBLIC beta. No invite required- just download the maps and join on in. (Be warned- the download packet is 250 MB- please allow plenty of time for it to download, especially if you are not a paid user of the site.)
I will be hopping into the server from time to time to make sure everything is going well (UBE Chief might, but I cannot speak for him). The server will remain open 24/7 for the entire two weeks and will not shut down for maintainence unless it is deemed necessary in order to continue the beta.
Again, we encourage you to participate. We'll see you in the server. Edited by The NSSC on Sep 16, 2011 at 05:12 PM
I understand perfectly where you're coming from, eliteslasher, and I understand your concern. Sometimes, though, following the crowd isn't always the best route (especially if they're lemmings XD). Granted, however, it's not always a bad thing to do what everyone does in the same way that they do it, but sometimes you have to take some risks, and you might be suprised at the possible rewards. Put the .zip file in a folder then zip that folder up. Free users can't download files that are over the 200mb limit. -Zekilk Edited by cyboryxmen on Sep 8, 2011 at 10:19 AM
I'm a free user, and I was able to download it; it's just going to take a long time.
Thanks for the correction. Allow me to correct myself, now- The name of the map pack in the topic title is misspelled: The name of the map pack is "Adjutant". It currently reads "Adutant", which is a typo. Apologies.
Quote: --- Original message by: eliteslasherQuote: --- Original message by: UBE Chief Might as well give him a chance, though. Not all new members are ripping, tag hogging SOB's who pre-release stuff and claims it as their own. Yes but in this community it is guilty until proven innocent. Also Dennis will teach us that if we don't want things preleased, then we should give them to no one but our closest and most reliable friends or, even safer, no one at all. If someone prominent in the community happens to know him and can vouch for him though, then things may change, but actually, A LOT of people who join here are in fact these ripping, tag hogging SOB's. But anyway, 12 days. Not saying he isn't trustworthy, it's just an odd thing that someone who joined after 12 days is willing to just set up a server for people to beta. I mean hell, it could be one of these SOB's new duplicate accounts. I'm just saying 12 days is not enough to be so bold as to volunteer your services as one who would be receiving betas to maps.
Fair enough. I'll let you be the judge. The beta will be open for 2 weeks; if, in that time period, I recieve legitimate accusations for stealing credit for the maps/tags/models/whatever, then you will have proved yourself right. It seems as though you do not fully trust what I say, so I'll let the community tell you. (I will tell you this- I am a strong believer in personal pride and I would never even consider taking credit for some one else's work. People who do that really are liars and cheats, and I do not want to be associated with such people.)
I don't want to be your enemy- I'm just saying that it takes more than a first glance to truly understand the situation. (and let's face it- at least I didn't propose this on day 1.)
I will be hosting a dedicated server for the public beta of the "Adjutant" map pack by UBE Chief. The server will be titled "Adjutant Map Pack Public Beta" and will go live tomorow, sooner if enough people respond (need at least 16 for immediate launch- maximum amount of players allowed per server). Here's the download link for the map pack (HEADS UP- the .zip folder contains 5 maps and is about 120 MB; please allow plenty of time for it to download): (link removed by request of UBE Chief, the map pack's creator) The server will cycle all 5 maps through Team Slayer, CTF, Oddball, and King of the Hill and will remain open for two weeks. A forum dedicated to this beta will be available on this site as soon as the server goes live. Feel free to use it to report any bugs, make comments, or request any changes in the game types.
Please reply to this post if you are participating. 16 responses and I'll launch the beta immediately; otherwise, it will go live between 1 and 2 pm CT , Thursday September 8th, 2011. Edited by The NSSC on Sep 16, 2011 at 05:13 PM

In the future to help reduce the packet size, try .zip-ing each map individually, then putting them all into another .zip folder. That should make it a little less heavy (and it won't cost as much to carry on the airline ;) ) I already tried that, but all it did was save ~1-2Mb - not much in the long run, even when compressed into a .RAR file (both as one large file and in seperate into one, as you suggested). It has to stay like that also to prevent anyone from releasing any of the maps in the Map Pack early - because, let's face it, who'd want to download a 250Mb .ZIP file (that can take anywhere from 20-40 minutes to download) only to release the same maps as-is? :P
Good point, and well thought. I'll get to work anouncing the beta right away.
