Hey guys, I need some help. I downloaded the custom Elite Halo 2 tags. This contains characters such as Honour Guards, Councillors etc. The problem is, when I try to add them to the "actor_variant" list in Sapien, it gives me an error:
"Not all selected tags could be added to the palette: You selected one or more files that couldn't be loaded correctly. Please contact your nearest Bungie programmer for asistance."
So, how do I... i) Use these tags? ii) Use them as character in multiplayer (play as this character)?
Thanks, but what about the fact that it says that the BR master round (<--- WTF is this?) isn't right? Or the fact that the other day it gave me an even more screwy error saying: "WARNING: Elite - Commander may be ambiguously attached to bsp #0 or #1 ^^ Not exact warning.
But what I don't get is that I tested this byextracting coldsnapwar DIRECTLY, WITHOUT TOUCHING A SINGLE THING, loading it in sapien (then sapien has some weird messages when I open the map) then attempting to make a .map file with tool. The same map somebody else managed to compile. I am at a loss.
When you say delete tags, do you mean off the map, or also in the 'edit types' tab too?
Now I'm getting this stupid error when I try to use tool: I type in: "tool build-cache-file levels\coldsnap\coldsnapwar" The folder created by HEKplus didn't put the coldsnap folder into "test" with the other maps. Then tool says: "Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map' meter element 0 for weapons\battle rifle\master rounds is not valid orange_landingpad: this is not a valid navpoint name culling uncompressed model vertices...done culling uncompressed structure bsp vertices...done culling uncompressed model animation data...done building predicted resources for structures...done structure bsp 'levels\coldsnap\coldsnap' is 12.59M tag headers and names are 0.24M streaming model vertex and index buffers...done streaming tags..............................done writing vertex and index buffers...done 18.19M writing tags...done (3250 tags for 11.23) tags are 0.81M too large for structure bsps (11.23M+12.59M>23.00M) ### FAILED TO BUILD CACHE FILE

It's not giving any errors. The only errors are those that originate from tool, when it mentions toolbeta

EDIT: Here is another error, this one with tool:

The debug in the CE directory? All that says is the messages about toolbeta.map not being able to be read. Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 7, 2010 at 01:10 AM
Well, it's official: Sapien refuses to open anything bigger than sidewinder. I tried to open infinity and it wouldn't let me. I try to open beavercreek, it lets me.

Campaign maps, from either CE or PC Multiplayer maps from CE but I CAN open the original multiplayer maps (PC Bloodgulch etc) from PC. These are the only ones I can edit.
What is wrong? I extract them all with HEKplus, I try to load them in sapien and it just closes. I have tried to set the affiniy to 1, it still won't work. Help, please!
Ok, thank you for that. I managed to get tool working. However, I now have another issue: I can't seem to open other maps, I have extracted the .scenario in HEKplus, from the test folder. It will only let me open the regular multiplayer maps.
EDIT: How do I mod campaign maps???? Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 11:08 PM
Edit: If I try to open any map that in not an original Halo PC map, sapien closes. Ditto for campaign from Either game?
How do I add/modify maps I have downloaded from this site, and how do I edit campaign maps? Stupid sapien won't let me :/ Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 11:18 PM
Assume I am a complete techie noob. I have no idea, this is my first map creation, ever. I am using windows 7 64bit OS.
I would prefer CE, but I used sidewinder from PC to make it. Where is my HEK root likely to be? My map is called sidewinder_ai What EXACTLY would I type in to get it to work?
EDIT: I don't seem to have a definite HEK root. It appears to be everywhere in my Custom edition directory. I have HEK_Tutorial Guerilla Sapien Tool
Do I want to paste the cmd.exe here?

Edit 2: how do I edit the shortcut to run as admin? Is it simply right-clicking and going "run as administrator"??
TY Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 06:44 AMEdit 3: I think I have tool working. What do I need to type in order to get it to make a halo ce .map file? As stated before my map is called "sidewinder_ai" Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 06:46 AM This is what I put into my cmd: tool build-cache-file levels test sidewinder_ai\sidewinder_ai Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 07:02 AM
Also, how do I get tool.exe? I type it into the command prompt and it say "not a valid win32 file" and then says access denied.
I have finished adding Ai to my map, now i need to get it into Halo PC. How exactly do I do this? I have watched a ton of videos all saying to open up tool in the command prompt, unfortunately I don't know how. Please help Edited by Jeebus NZL on Jun 6, 2010 at 06:13 AM
