Listen guys, I don't know what the meaning of this is. I literally can't think of any valid reason to delete informative posts.

This forum is an archive and many people (myself included) bookmark certain threads for future reference. Guides, tutorials, meaningful discussions, etc should NEVER be deleted for any reason (well, I suppose that's up to Dennis in the event that a user is banned).

Well if a user posts crap and is punished for it by having all his posts' content removed, there's not much you can do about it. It is unfortunate of course when useful content is removed in this case, but a way around that is simply copy-pasting a useful post into a wiki or document once you find it.

But Dennis did not remove Sparky's post, he edited the content and removed it himself so it seems.

And yes, I'm pretty surprised nobody ever extended the documentation on this game. It's all loose tutorials.

^ looks like that.

Not really sure why someone would do that either. If its an excuse like "because people dont deserve it" then they need to seriously ask themselves why they even posted it in the first place.

This forum is an archive

This forum is NOT an archive it is a free flowing discussion where ideas are fluid and information comes and goes.

The archive is located here: http://hce.halomaps.org and that is where tutorials should be maintained. Posting them here is just lazy.

He probably did that when he was like "Screw you guys I'm leaving", but then came back a week later.

It's possible it was uploaded there but that requires an update before we can view it.

Half the reason why no one uploads content to this site anymore is because you take too long to process and imbed submissions.

It was just the basic aether tutorial.

http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4312 (instructions in the description)

http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?13546-Advanced-High-Quality-Lightmapping (slightly more informative tut by Dee)

If you need more info just ask.

There was also a discussion on the subject that wouldn't have been compiled into any guide. It's still useful information and there's still no reason to delete informative posts. Fine, it's not an archive, but:

Thank you for the links - but is this really what this board is about? Endless posts asking for information that could otherwise simply be found by using the search function? Granted, the search feature could be better, but am I really the only one that is annoyed by the constant flow of people asking to be spoon-fed information that is already available on this board?

Wasn't there a HEK wiki somewhere? I can't seem to find it and I remember that it was severely lacking in content, but if this sort of behavior is to be expected on these boards then I propose that we start compiling useful information/tutorials/etc somewhere. There is so much knowledge about the game engine and content creation but no up-to-date centralized database.

If indeed Sparky himself edited all his posts in a rage-fit, then there is nothing we can do about it anyways. Again, if he posts something useful that isn't a wall of text, just copy-paste it somewhere else if the information is that vital.

Oh and happy new years :-)
