Phantom bsp's exist in almost every Halo title. I've never heard of anybody dismissing the entire game as bad over a few of these.

I was exaggerating a bit, but this is kind of a big deal too. I could understand a small wall here and there, but this is quite a chunk.

Bit of a noob with respect to map making stuff, what exactly causes phant bsps? Are they easy to fix mistakes, or some kind of random bug?

I find it incredibly strange they have not fixed this in their engine.
Nowadays there's a bunch of physics engines out there that just take in a "landscape" and pour out a collision mesh. Ironing out invisible collision walls should not be an issue for a modern engine.

Its most caused by portals and múltiple faces forming a tiled plane. You can either move them or aply portales.

I agree. I mean, it's not the end of the world but you would think that they'd avoid this by having the engine not even make these walls in the first place. If it did then it should be found and removed. (even in sapien we can find the invisible walls!)

Usually bad portals. But It can also be lot's of naughty geometry in one spot.

I own the game, but at this point I'll blame the fact that I'm somewhat of a masochist because it has problems.
