I just purchased Halo PC for the first time (I've always played it console, so I figured I wanted to try the PC version)And the game won't start!

I have a windows 7 computer, the specs are above and beyond the minimum, but the application won't even open!

I'd be very grateful for some help on this, I'd hate to find out that I just wasted $40...

Sometimes, high resolutions will cause the game to crash on startup. Try running the game in windowed mode and manually start it up like that.

Other than that, do you get any error messsges?

The game doesn't get far enough that I can mess with the settings, I double click the application, and then I get nothing, no errors or anything...

Should I be running it in compatibility mode, or messing with properties?
And if so What compatibility mode should it be running in, XP? Vista?

Make a shortcut and add -window to the end of the target line, that should let you run it windowed.

Its odd not getting an error though.

It's just not letting me run it at all, the program won't open.

Try this:

1) Start Halo from the shortcut.
2) When it fails to open, open Task Manager and end halo.exe.
3) Attempt to start Halo again.

May or may not work but I've encountered some strangeness with Halo PC (but not CE) failing to launch on first try every now and then.

I've tried to, but I can't find it in the applications tab of Task Manager, its like the application just isn't opening at all.

I'm going to try 'the Ol' unplug it and plug it back in' fix, and see if that does anything.

Edit: Wait what the hell? it should have still run fine as the base 1.0 patch atleast enough to update. That doesn't make sense why that'd work
