Ok, guys, these are the shadows I have in Halo by default They are not even that bad, to be honest. I'd just love to have them darker, both the shading on the model and the shadow on the ground, similar to the ones in CEA; a good example may be the marine on the right Through some testing, the darkest value reachable on a fully-lit model is somewhere around 43% of its original color. I've searched in the scenario tag, in the gbxmodel tag, in the sky tag, the bsp tag (in the lightmaps section) and even in the globals tag, but I couldn't find anything that could affect it. Is this color hard-coded or there are some values, somewhere, that could help me?

I may be incorrect but im pretty sure there is a greyscale bitmap somewhere that controls the shadows.....
Ofc i may just be thinking about later games

Ambient Occlusion, you can bake it onto the diffuse, though pretty sure Halo 3 already has that baked on the diffuse maps.

Here you go. This should help with darkening shadows in general and stuff.
Get GEMFX with the configurator. In the "General" tab, enable either "Realistic Shader" or "TrueColor Shader". Next after you have chosen one of them. Go to the "Basic Shader" tab and change the settings under the shader type that you chose (RealisticColor Settings / TrueColor Settings). Then here is the settings where it allows you to brighten or darken all shadows in the game. Go to Shadow Depth under the settings that you had enabled and then move the bar to the right to increase overall shadow darkness (This should only affect shadow darkness in games). You could also enable SSAO too to make it better. Tell me if this helped. ;)
(Please note. You may have to do other tweaking for the whole configurator to get the game to look right.)

I'd just like to have it implemented into the map, without external applications, because I've been trying GEMFX right now, and Sapien dropped below 10 fps even with the lowest settings. I'd like both.
