Is there a way select a group of polygons by its texture?
I am trying to hide all polygons but leave bones unhidden so I can rename them.

You can also hide individual polls by selecting it\them and clicking "hide selected" in the right-hand menu on the Edit Poly menu.

On the worthog tire there is the blur tire and the static tire in one, but when I click on the blur tire to delete it it also delete the static tire. How do I select one without selecting the other?

Is there another way to select the "blur tire" without selecting the static tire?

Press M, you will see what material the blur tire is, go in polygon mode and "select ID" inputting the material ID of the tire.

The m key worked but didnt show the tire poly name. However I found a way by accident. I selected editable mesh, then element, then delete and that got rid of the blur poly covering the tire.
Its funny how when select one thing in 3dsmax a previous selection on longer works.

Your doing a few things wrong, your using Editable Mesh, your very limited in what you can do, convert it to Editable Poly. Also, your editing a ripped model, just watch a tutorial and make something, you won't learn much from what your doing now.

Always use material ids. Make selection, set id, then you can select by id. This is by far the easiest way to keep parts of objects selectable, I use this for easy uvwing because you can select by id in the uvw unwrap modifier. Edited by Maniac1000 on Jun 26, 2015 at 02:11 PM
