I was going to try testing some AI in a map and wanted a few new weapons to try out from a .yelo map however, I cannot open it in HEK+, if I select all files and try and open it it says it is unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

Does anyone know how to open a .yelo map in HEK+? I am using HEK+ as of 12-17-06

Wow, Uh, Slight change. I downloaded an older version of HEK+ and it opens .yelo files, any reason why it is? I haven't tried extracting yet but I am going to try now.

Looks like I may need a copy of hexedit to see what is changed.

You can change the .map when looking for a map to open to "all files" to open a .yelo. Some OS files wont extract right

I understand that, that is what I did but it says it is unable to read beyond the end of the stream in HEK+ as of the 2006 version

but the 2005 version works to open .yelo files. I do not understand.

HEK+ should read both .map files and .yelo files.

My HEK+ Opens up TSC:E just fine (and no, I don't want to rip it, I was just testing it to see if it worked :P) which proves that HEK+ should be able to open maps compiled with the newest version of OS.

I use this version of the HEK+:

And i'll bet 10 dollars right now that if you just simply install it on a windows 7 machine, it wont work correctly.

Funny you should ask, there's a solution:

Right click the .exe, click properties.
Click the compatability tab.
Make sure "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop composition" are checked, click apply then OK, and it should work just fine.

I don't have it checked to run in a certain compatibility, but if that still doesn't work, i'm going to assume Windows XP Service Pack 3 is the compatibility you want to run it with.

yw have a good day
