Because Halo Online's multiplayer is coming out soon-ish, I didn't want to invest in the full-game. (Tho Halo revolution looks awesome) What is the best texture pack for Custom Edtion+ Why doesn't HR work in custom edition?

Is there anyway other than texmod/umod?
I was hoping something like Halo Revolution

When the final releases i'll release all of the textures I've made/customized in both .bitmap and .tif formats. It's a fairly large library, has a ton of forerunner, human, covenant, and environment textures.

There is a way to replace the default .map with costomized ones that work with a server running a clasic map?

yea. it involves a little hex editing. me and mikecyborg are looking at setting it up for some projects. there is another guy who rigged a bunch of halo reach stuff to halo 1 bones and stuffed it all in a retextured bloodgulch.

its pretty cool when you pull it off but do not place anything collideable where it shouldnt be... otherwise things can get a little glitchy collisions wise between client and host.

Halo ces engine carried all the way through to h3 odst. Beyond that the halo reach game utilized a redeveloped engine meaning compatibility between the two would be a lot more harder compared to any older halo based engine.

Having said that various assets such as textures and models have been successfully ripped and transplanted into our ageing engine.

This means though we cannot replicate or bring about a superior experience compared to those games which sit upon the console throne. We can get damn close.

OP, I would highly recommend taking a read at this. By all means it's not much, but messing around with your graphics control panel should help add some quality to an old game like Halo. I beleive SweetFX is also compatible with Halo, which I personally use to add a subtle amount of color correction.


Speaking of quality, was there ever any report of success in patching the bitmaps.map file in Custom Edition? I always had a peeve with playing stock maps without the Assault Rifle's multipurpose fix. Same with the flag and fuel rod shaders as well.

No unfortunately there wasn't.

I'm still waiting for a fog fix........

I think this is the best one. No bad look texture. Doesn't have the feeling like "I should change all the textures because this is a texmod" and shtty texmod comes out.
