I was wondering. Instead of using dev mods all the time. Just using one of the editors to alter spartan 117. Specifically into an Elite Swordsman on modified missions using custom edition

Easy. Go into guerilla and change the spawn biped, recompile the map.

That will help but i recomend you to download the élite multiplayer tags so you can pickup all weapons and vehicles
