"I want to make a map man but no tut's out there. Aw shucks!"

But, but, but, but gearbox provides with one already.......

http://hce.halomaps.org/hek/

And it's installed by default with the HEK. I know right? Hax!

The game is old and a lot of 3rd party tools have been released since its heyday. Everyone seems to have their own preferences for software and utilities. I personally use 3ds max 2012, bluestreak jms exporter (the latest one) and Kornmann's HEK (improved versions of Guerilla and Sapien).

Obviously the first thing you'll want to do is download the official HEK. The official tutorial is actually pretty comprehensive and it all still applies. The only thing that differs is the mention of the Blitzkrieg exporter, which is no longer supported and has been replaced by Bluestreak.

Free tip: When use Bluestreak, you need to convert your model to Editable Mesh before exporting, otherwise you'll have endless errors.

If you need someone to ask questions to (BSP modelling only), add me on Xfire: killdill101

But don't expect me to spoonfeed everything, you should at least go through the official tutorial first.

PS: Also consider downloading the tag packs for all the stock maps. Those tags have proved invaluable - without opening them up or flying around the levels in Sapien, I would never have learned about how some of the more intermediate/advanced stuff was created.
