We are doing a youtube stream, however, youtube checks content ID during the stream and may shut us down mid-stream. Watching on youtube will be the most risky, however if this happens, we still have Ustream with a quality picker or Twitch.

Well I'll be getting paid during CE3 this year. I requested personal time. It truly feels like a business now.

What do you mean "skip?" I asked like two weeks ago just not to be scheduled for that day. That doesn't sound extreme at all, I'm just having a game night which happens only once a year.

I feel bad for everyone's employers... I say it's worth it seeing your hard work being displayed in front of 500+ people. Besides, we asked for it in advance :D

I'm a dirty Scotsman with a rather advantageous timezone, which means I can watch CE3 live without having to skip work!

That doesn't sound extreme at all, I'm just having a game night which happens only once a year. "Skip" metaphorically, like the same way you'd say "I skipped school for a doctor's appointment" when that appointment was obviously planned ahead of time. Quote: --- Original message by: Pepzee It must just be me, but it seems a tad bit overboard to skip work/school for Halo CE... If you meant that for us (the crew and presenters), I can see why it's a bit extreme. We're putting in so much time and effort into something that could almost be called a job in itself... especially since we're not even putting our real names on this, let alone getting paid or anything. At least for me, I think it's still worth it. Everyone on the crew want to make sure every minute of our event is the best that it can be. CE3 is like the single biggest time you can really feel our community as a whole, and it really shows how far we've gone, 14 years since release, doing awesome things for this dusty old engine. It's a hobby, and (I can't say for everyone else but for me) something to be proud of, and a little thing you can use to define yourself and set yourself apart. As long as you can manage, a day to yourself instead of your work never hurts much, amirite? [/renegade's opinions] Dratt, Bullet, Koz and R93, I really hope y'all didn't mind; I really meant this just as a shout out to all of y'all and what we've done for the show.

I schedule CE3 to be on a day that I could easy take work off. My employer works me more than my few co-workers so asking for a day off isn't that extreme as I honestly have earned a day off anyway. Someone (who is not me or the crew) should make a CE3 Bingo board, kinda like what E3 has. Edited by MatthewDratt on Jul 5, 2015 at 09:58 PM

Quote: --- Original message by: Ki11erFTW I'm posting here today to inform everyone that Halo: Composition will not make an appearance at CE3 this year. I'd rather tell you all myself since it was advertised in the trailer. The guys over at CE3 have been kind enough to extend my deadline longer and longer as I knew I wouldn't have anything I felt comfortable showing this year. I'd rather show something completed to my satisfaction rather then being rushed and unfinished (similar to last years presentation).
On top of that, circumstances have changed with the people working on the mod. Ive been working full time, 10 hours a day in most occasions, I have a relationship as well, so I hardly find myself sleeping at home anymore. One of my assistant environment artists seems to have disappeared, and my composer is currently visiting Spain. kozakuu is still here as far as I know to help out with graphics, ideas and overall production.
Bottom line, the mod is not dead. A lot of cool things have been created since last year, but they are not in a presentable state. I've been currently trying to familiarize myself with the new DLM feature which so far is going well. I've put 3 years worth of work into this mod, 2 years worth before I revealed it.
I love halo, I love game design. If I don't create things, I go crazy. Hang tight. Updates aren't far off.

Out of curiosity, why would YT care enough to block the stream? AFAIK there's no copyright issues with this, so what's their beef?

YouTube puts content IDs on some commercial songs that are on their videos; that's why the names and artists of songs sometimes pop up in video descriptions. But sometimes, they can be pretty strict about things and block some songs -and how often this happens can change depending on what country you're from. For example, the US is pretty cool with most songs being used, while Germany really likes to block and take down videos with music recorded by (I think it's) Interscope. ...and sadly, they publish a lot of songs. And some of them can be really good trailer music, and people don't think about this happening too often...

Ah, I understand now. So I assume that's more of an issue when you guys are simply showing a video that a user submitted than when making the trailers yourselves? Or is it one of those oversights that are just ridiculously hard to foresee being an issue

To add more salt into it, (YouTube) livestreaming ain't even allowed in Germany, so I'm pretty much just reliant on Ustream and Twitch :P

See, I have no idea how strict youtube is gonna be. They've shut down IGN during E3 before or RoosterTeeth during their pre-prodcast, but Ive done 20-30 minute tests of CE3 2014 and it was fine. So I have no idea whats gonna happen.

Maybe start the youtube stream 5 - 10 minutes earlier than the other ones, so in case it does get shot down, theres enough time to change over to another stream and still be caught up on time. :)

Plus, I think you can rewind on livestreams as well. I've never tried it on any of the providers we have for CE3, but I know it's possible in some places... you can always use that for a few seconds and jump to the live section afterwards, too.

It's not wrong. I'm an idiot who can't read the small numbers on the map, it says (-9) for Alaska when I thought it said (-10).
