In short, don't expect any halomaps updates anymore.

The site will contain updates, videos, screenshots and more from all our projects (And Nicksters sector 09). There is a forum... However it was mostly designed for devs. There are public subforums though.

I was kinda opposed to the forum (and still am) however it is also nicksters site, so he can do whatever he wants. (Hence why sector 09 has its own page)

A site for updates, with no updates, cool beans....

Also @matt if the site shuts down or something happens, I can tell you now it absolutely won't be halomaps.

Why? Who cares? Its not like we are doing the project for attention. If people want to know what we are doing, they can go to the site. If not, they can stay here. Halomaps is just a place where "well if its not what I want I'm gonna tell you to kill yourself or accuse you of stupid crap" and that just isnt cool.

Right there with ya buddy. Come to OpenCarnage. Actual discussions not involving 12 year olds or trolls. Actual moderation! 'Tis glorious. I only check here to see if TSC:E released yet, and occasionally stray to other threads.

I still see this as really childish behavior. Both of my threads are a huge mess. People are constantly telling me what to do. But guess what- I just don't do it. Boohoo they can go cry about it. I'm not gonna be the one running and crying.

But if you've got your own forum at your disposal, I don't see any reason to not use it.

With the community so small and Halomaps the most trafficked site, there really isn't a need for another public forum. Even with CMT, we primarily use our forum just to ref new people and give them a place to contact us... but activity there is minimal and we don't do a good job maintaining it.

Yes, but my thread ended up just becoming so much of a mess I just let it get locked. And honestly I don't wanna make another thread for every time some asshole purposefully brings it down. Like I said, the forum is mostly for devs. If you wanna screw around in it fine. We aren't really gonna stop you.

Much like masterz said. If this community was big, then it wouldn't matter. But Halomaps is really the only active Halo CE site left. Even Modacity is getting slow these days. It's either be on halomaps or essentially be forgotten.

I didn't make the rules. I just follow them.

The forums exist on the website as a place for the VKMT members to collaborate in private boards (You can't see the boards, they are hidden from the public... private dev duh :P). This is the main reason why the website has forums (if you thought your threads were messy... join our Skype chat for about a day). I figured those who were from halomaps who wanted to post in the forums had a few options. Plus I made a troll board :P

3 moderators run the forum (me, nickster, and Goldy) spamming gets you banned pretty quickly, obviously.

And I wouldn't call 6+ hours "pretty quickly" lol

Well I went out cold yesterday, not sure what everyone else did but on a good day it shouldn't be too long.

Would it be too much to know what was even posted?

I'm in two minds about the website.

Although Halomaps is pretty much the centrifugal force still for all things halo custom edition it needs a little more of an.....update and a few changes too.

(I can't physically tell you want those changes could or should be, I just have a gut felling)

If SMF is the future of halomaps then we might as well kill ourselves now.

SMF 2.09 has a huge gaping SQU injection exploit which gives anyone a privilege escalation (admin). Not to mention the code and design are a trainwreck. SMF is a joke and so is this website.

@altheros the last crappy halo 4 port was last year. And you have no clue what we are doing right now, nore have you seen any of the custom content made. And if you got nothing you wanted out of leading, you're leading wrong.

By the way Captchas are not effective means for thwarting bots.

Whoever allegedly spammed the forums has also made it better because we'll now be better suited to "thwart" them.

People have been able to get around security questions since 1993 lol, besides that there's really no changes to your website, and Ip bans are meaningless when you don't have a proxy backlist, which you don't because I just signed up with one lol

I guess we'll see how well the changes work soon then.

I guess no body knows how to read quotes anymore, or you are very good at ignoring certain posts.

If you guys are going to disrespect my forums by spamming it, then I will simply delete all of the public threads, disable registeration and it can be for VKMT only until we have some updates. This was the original purpose, but I decided to be nice and give the community some options, but I guess I was too nice. It was never my intention to create a new "halomaps" or "steal" the community for my boards.

I only released the website for Sector 09 to show that it is still alive, and I released tons of never-before seen perspectives of the level as well. Sean wanted to publically release the website for VKMT and I was okay with that.

The only thing I can say is that if you disrespect VKMT by bashing it, you're disrespecting me too because the team has seriously reconsidered it's tatics in creating projects, and the website is helping tremendously by being able to keep everything organized. There has been a lot of behind the scenes work that has been done, and we are learning together the experience of what it is like to work in a team. I'd like to note that the team members have done a phenominal job with their work regarding Outlander.

Simply put: If you have nothing nice to say, then get the he (double hockey stick) off of my website.
